Brandin Cooks 8 receptions for 66 yards, 8.3 yards a catch with a long of 16 yards, and no TDs.
Cooks has been a disappointment so far. Those numbers don't show the full extent, as they don't show the targets required for those receptions.

Prior to today, 4-11 39 yards.

Today was better, 4-4 27 yards. And today was hardly a game where a deep threat was needed. I'm encouraged by the improvement.

I'm still wondering how Cooks got elevated with praise so easily and so fast on this board.

Because the front office sold him like he was the next coming of Randy Moss?

Gallup is looking good. Very encouraged by his play this year.

Cooks will get his chance. We haven't really taken many deep shots, hopefully they start soon

Completely using Cooks the wrong way though. What was the point of bringing him in when we don't use his abilities to the fullest

Might as well tie his legs together

Gallup seems to be getting a bit better. Lets hope that continues.

Some of us told y'all Michael Gallup would be fine and back to his own self. Glad to see it.

I got sick of defending the man. He got no slack from our fans, one year removed from an acl.

Gallup is still a good wr and he will continue to be productive.

Cooks is great but we need to get him down the field on some deep routes which we haven't seen yet!! To be honest the reciever that impresses me the most outside of Lamb is Tolbert. He is hungry, great route runner, and has great hands!! Wish we would utilize him more. SMDH

Cooks is what I thought he was -not a replacement for Cooper!
Still a lot of season left, but I thought we'd see him AT LEAST threatening CBs down the field. So far, he's being used as somewhat of a possession guy. Could be a function of the offense, but I think he can do more.

Gallup 13 receptions for 165 yards, 29 long, 12.7 YPC, and no TDs (yet). I say 7 by the season's end. He's a redzone threat if you allow him to be, just not an obvious one.

The knock on Brandin Cooks, and exactly why he's been around on so many different teams: because he gets a lot of production, but doesn't produce a lot of points (look it up), so his cost ends up not being worth the value in money (in terms of cashing into production to help win games).

Brandin Cooks 8 receptions for 66 yards, 8.3 yards a catch with a long of 16 yards, and no TDs.

Remember all the ones saying Gallup was washed? Nah, he's just coming back in time to earn his keep around here. He helped us get the game going today and once he gets going we're impossible to stop, I think.

Sometimes you just need that pesky possession receiver who can eat up clock and chew away at your morale. Then, you rev up the engine and floor the WCO. I think this offense is coming around. I think the Patriots are a better team than your usual 1-3 team, but they are what they are. They didn't have the QB to beat a defense like ours today.

Anyway, I love to see Micael Gallup coming around. He's a fun player to me because he's just such a humble guy off the field. Love me some MG. I don't care what y'all say.
I am really concerned about Cooks. I haven't seen a single play that has shown me his so called blazing speed.

I saw it in camp a bunch but not even a close incomplete that made anyone say, "wow".

This isn't good as he was a big reason for my offensive optimism.

We are not using cooks right. Get him out in space and deep down middle. We don’t have aggressive passing scheme. Dumb short throws and wr screens.
This I bet in a Kyle Shanahan style offense or Mike McDaniel (Dolphins) Cooks would be cooking.

Is it not at all possible that the presence of Cooks is opening things up for Gallup?

Maybe someone who has all 22 and knows what they are looking at can opine.

We all knew this offense was going to toned down a bit and that’s a good thing.

Those who wish to be upset over stats shouldn’t complain about losing games when it happens.

Imagine bragging that your vet WR has 13 catches for 165 yards after the first 4 games.
Rookie 5th round pick, Puka Nacua, has 39 catches for 501 yards in his first 4 games. That’s insane production.

He is coming off an injury which generally takes 18-24 months for most athletes to fully recover from, from a performance perspective. In the middle of it, the team switched offensive coordinators and systems which require him to learn new plays and figure out how he fits into it. I am not a defender of his at all, but I do see his value in the offense, which I didn't see before. I thought his lack of separation would be an issue, but I under-estimated his ability to get open in the system and make plays. I don't think he will be Jerry Rice in the system but will be a positive contributor. And he has already done more than Cooks has, who came in as the high profile free agent that was supposed to take us to the next level. He hasn't yet.

In fact, both Gilmore and Cooks look like guys you would get for 5th round picks. Solid players who are solidly past their prime and that is why their teams let them go - they were ready to go with younger players for their upside. Both players will help us this year, but Gilmore isn't the best corner on this team with Diggs out. Bland is.
