Michael Irvin as a head coach (not necessarily in Dallas)?

He coached/mentored Isaiah Stanback and Jesse Holley.

John Garrett pushed for the Cowboys to get Kevin Ogletree.

Which one would you say is the better football guy?

Head coaches don't have to be great X's and O's guys, if they are good motivators and good game and team managers they can be good coaches as long as they surround themselves with good X's and O's guys.
They marry their jobs and can't cheat on this wife. You're telling me Irvin could sacrifice his fancy clothes and fast life?

Based on what?

What's wrong with making it rain?

Nothing unless your an assitant coach who should be at work. :laugh2:

I think Mike could offer a lot but it takes a lot in terms of putting the time in which is why many other players do not want to do it after they get out.

I think Woodson would be a fine coach, heck I thought of him as a player/coach much like Dan Reeves was when he was in Dallas but Woodson had no desire to become a fulltime coach and I can't say I blame him.

Head coach? Not sure, but as a talent evaluator (part of the job) he SUCKS. But if properly motivated, he could make a great WR coach.

He worked with Isaiah Stanback............I'm just sayin.:p:

No, I don't think he would be a good coach.

I'd be afraid he'd resort (or resnort) to his old habits of cocaine and hookers. No thanks.

Wow... Dude is making more now as a sports personality than he would ever make as a second tier coach. If the resnort was going to happen it would have already happened.

maybe you need to change your custom title...

I hear him on the radio and wonder if he hasn't. He sounds high often.

It wouldn't surprise me. :D Mike has always had an affection for the night life. That doesn't just go away with age. Snorting though? hmmmm... I would sincerely hope he never ventures back down that road.

A lot of the points you bring up on Irvin I could also make for Chuck Cecil. I know some of you younger guys may not have seen the "Heat Seeking Missile" play but we all see how coaching is working out for him.

Maybe not coke, but I don't care if it is alcohol which is legal. he sounds buzzed on air a lot. I don't think he would have the discipline it took to be a true coach.

Chuck got busted for drugs and hookers? Titans defense doesn't look so good under Chuck. He's a fellow Arizona alum, but he's not doing so well.

I don't think he would be a good coach, unless your definition of a good coach includes buzzwords on their resume:

"passion"

"spit & vinegar"

"fire"

"getting in people's face"

"holding people accountable" by doing one of the above buzzwords

Damn, some serious Irvin hate in this thread. I love the guy, he is real and not some fake self-righteous guy. Would he make a great coach, i don’t know...i think he would have a passion for it.

Based on me thinking people can change. If he really wated to do it, I think he would pull it off, it is no secret he was the hardest working player on the team during the season.

Having said that, I do not think he wants to do it.

Exactly.

This brings back memories of the summer and Fourth and Long... "Michael Irvin is a better coach than anyone on our staff!"
