Michael Irvin is beyond excited about Pickens trade says Cowboys are playoff-bound

Playoff bound? We usually are. We gonna get embarrassingly tossed out on our butts again?
Well that is something we just have to wait and see what happens.
I think Shotty is a better HC than most think, and I am hoping that he is better at
getting the team prepared for big games, and has better game plans, and can ad lib
during games they are losing.

I think we will see a vastly different cowboys team this Sept !

How can you come this conclusion on someone who has never once done the job? At least he has 28 years of coaching experience - remember how vast (pun intended) Garrett's resume was when Jerry handed him the keys?

I'm willing to give him a shot but one thought will linger, there has to be a reason why he was passed over so many times for HC gigs.

i've been saying this for years. when pressure is on he's got the Deer in headlights look. he needs someone to help him snap out. Last year they tired to bring Zeke back to help but they never got to playoffs to see if it would help. they need a physiologist on the payroll to get him out of his funk when this happens. some one get Sanchez back here to talk to him when he looses it.
He's fine when we got the lead or around even. When we get hit hard from the start and go down by a couple of scores, that's when he becomes a different QB in a bad way. He's more likely to throw a pick than bring us back.

Dak also doesn't do well with win or lose final drives. It usually ends badly. Last year we did beat Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh on a final win or lose drive. Maybe there's hope.

Irvin predicted we'd go to the SuperBowl last year on a show I watched.

I guess some will say Irvin doesn't know what he is talking about, or he is a homer lol.
I think cowboys now have a good shot at winning 10-12 games and getting in playoffs.
Not a doubt in my mind that they will be much better than last year when they won 7 almost 8 games.

Still hard on crack that Irv.

He must be on the blow again. On a serious note, I just realized George is Carl Pickens' son. Good player.

Dang…over 90 years in existence and Pickens was one of the worst teammates in their history. That sounds dire. Wonder how many players have moved through that franchise.
Oh, I see we have a literalist. Mike Tomlin is known as the best motivator of men in the NFL. He was the one pushing for Pickens departure. If Tomlin can’t make an impact on him , Shotty will? I guess we will see how many meetings he misses, games he late for , and unsportsmanlike penalties he can rack up.

And you keep believing the hype there is an equal amount of stories that say that's not true the problems he's had on the field with blow ups and whatnot with his passionate diatribes are the things he's done it is not true about when on in the locker room believe who you want there's half a saying it's not true the other half like you think it's true who's right or who's wrong we'll find out but you know why it's too late he's here how about you calm down step aside let this thing work itself out the worst teammate in history really in history that's what you're saying where's the proof?

You're just trying to find a reason to be unhappy about this trade and it gets old you guys are insufferable as fans we finally bring in a valley quality #2 wide receiver since Amari Cooper left or since Michael Gallup got hurt and then now you're worried about his locker room present how about this you realize why it took from draft weekend until now to sign the guy they did their research how about that you do realize there's a bunch of professionals there with hundreds of employees that make phone calls do some FaceTime and they've talked to coaches and teammates and I guarantee they vetted this guy they found out maybe some is of his immaturity has got the best of them but whatever is being blown up into something it's not it's not true or they wouldn't have made the deal...

That's a fact brian Schottenheimer said he's trying to make the culture around here with the right kind of guys and this guy might be immature he might have some blow ups on the field he might have some blowups on the sideline like we've seen with Dez Bryant and Terrell Owens and other players but there are no actual proof he's had problems in the locker room but I've seen stories about AJ Brown blowing up on Jalen Hurts we've seen it on the sideline this happens this is sports sometimes people get into things and some more than others and maybe he's one of those guys that don't mean he's a bad locker room cancer with his own teammates he's just had immature moments.

I hate to break it to you he's here whatever it is that you think he may or may not be it's too late just like Prescott's here people want to complain about his contract and they don't want him here too late he's here all of you just need to stop and just watch football and be happy we brought over a quality talent to help our offense....

You gotta love it when Keyshawn Johnson is the voice of reason throwing me the damn ball the beginning of the actual diva wide receiver that was misunderstood.lol. And talking with an equally passionate Michael Irvin who would have his own things to say on the sidelines on game day all it's missing now is Dez Bryant hell can we have brought Terrell Owens into this mix I want to see all 5 of them guys which by the way ironically have all played for the Dallas Cowboys at one point or another put them all in the room and talk about Pickens immaturity...

That would be priceless...

The Playmaker is always 100% pro-Cowboys!
so?

We need some of that when 75% of the world's anti cowboy including our own fans in here come on man we need some homerism the balance out all this negativity... I missed that sports personality on E S P N what was his name Will?

By the way but if you needed anybody to be an actual cowboy hater that says this is a great trade absolutely mega trade for the Cowboys and it put him over the topic was Dan Orlovsky literally said this just changes everything for the Cowboys he's giving it a two thumbs up when he does that I have to believe the story is coming from a hater...

Look key's delusional man seriously we're fighting the Giants for last place? How does anybody look at the weight Washington played the two Cowboys games last year nearly lost and had to pull Jayden Daniels for Marcus Mariota to win that game against our practice squad and act like they're somehow on the come up no there's no gap washington doesn't scare me yes they're good but they don't scare me at all like not even close with a healthy team and the way Prescott's dominated the NFC east Washington is going to have a sophomore slump..IE we saw that NFCCG, we saw DQs Ds here, Let's stop the anointing of Washington..

the Eatgles ,sure, they deserve flowers ,they just won the Super Bowl ,but they're not coming back to same, things... change now..

I'll give them the fact that they will compete for the first place in the NFC East but the Cowboys with a healthy Prescott is that's what George better playing the Eagles they didn't even play against Prescott last year at all we know Prescott has had great games even against the Eagles they are not getting a pass unless we're injured again this year..

I'm not saying we're guaranteed to make the playoffs or run into the playoffs but trying to shove us in 3rd place in the division in which Prescott owned when he's healthy does he realize that when Prescott's relatively healthy starts and finishes a season he's never had a losing season we won seven games with a bunch of practice squad players last year you think we can't win three more games and be better than Washington?

This move helps but the entire offseason the draft and the fact that we're getting a lot of guys back from injury just says we're going to be better..

I'm not guaranteeing anything but that's nonsense I keep hearing that from our own fans in here..

Irvin is a homer, but I think he knows what he is talking about. I don't think anyone is doubting Pickens' ability as a WR. I think the issue with Pickens is his attitude and whether it will hurt the team in the long run. Also, He is a 1 year rental on a team that is more than 1 player away from contending for the SB.

Also, the goal is not making the playoffs. It is winning in the playoffs and getting to the SB.

You should keep in mind that every successful HC was at one point someone who had never done the job before.
Jimmy didnt start out a HC, he did position coaching and started as HC at a smaller school, not something big like the cowboys.

As a person, we all get wiser as we get older , and HC is a job that requires wisdom do be good at it.
Shotty appears to be a thinker, and he is planning things out to get his team where he wants it.
Rome wasnt built in a day, and it may take 2 more years, but the team will continue on a upward
trend .
I find it interesting that a trade like the pickens trade hasnt happened in years, but now happens
in shottys first offseason. I think he is having an effect on the FO and jones boys too.

I am not looking for a SB win this year, what I want to see is a team that looks prepared and knows
what they are doing, and some innovative plays and formations, better run game and blocking,
you know the basic stuff. Score more in red zone
Get the most out of players who also play like they want to win, this is what I saw in 91 with Jimmy's team.

I could be wrong or just being a dreamer, lol but that is what I am hoping for.

Shotty or one of the new coaches may be able to help with dak and his issues.
I think running more and being good at running will help a lot, as it would any qb.

When a qb has to pass every down, and team cant run good or simply quit calling runs
that makes it hard on qb, and it is easier to pressure them, and then they start making mistakes.

Dak now has 2 good wr, and if the pass more to the rb's that opens it up even more, plus running,
it all gets easier.
In the past on those drives you speak of, bad play calling and being all pass can have a bad effect in those situations.

One thing I am dying to see is what our "new" offense will look like, I would like to see a whole new
playbook. Something innovative. Run many types of plays from one formation, so it isnt predictable.

I know in past I could just about predict what dallas was going to do by the formation they were in.
