did anyone catch that this morning? He was saying that when he talks to Jerry he's given the impression (and he agrees) that the Boys are in win now mode, and would value a impact player that can help immediately over a QB for the future.

Said rather than QB, he'd like to see us go after a Bosa or even an Ezekiel Elliott who has both power and speed.

When asked about the importance of QB he said we have a QB we really believe has 3-4 yrs left and a guy that will be the best option for the team when it comes to making a playoff run.

Said he believes we have the most talent of any team in the NFC east, and a true impact player that can produce immediately would be the smartest move.

I'm personally okay with either strategy but it was interesting to hear his perspective and what he believes Jerry's perspective is.

I'm so sick of the Elliot hype.

He is not a special runner.

Is he good? Yes.. But we've seen plenty of similar guys go in the 2nd round with his ability.

First round I want freak talents at RB.

Yes, Romo is the best option for a deep playoff run in the next 2-3 years.

But to ignore the fact he has a significant injury history and is up there in age would be a tremendous mistake by this organization if they opt to take a positional player over a QB at 4, even if they have a QB high on their draft board.

I hope when building their draft board, they don't automatically drop QBs on their board because they have no intention of taking one at 4 because they want a positional player that might help from Day 1.

I'm really not sure what you're looking for if you don't think Elliot is special.

He has tremendous top-end speed, while also having incredible power and being very difficult to take down. He's got elite, one-cut explosion and open field wiggle. He's got tremendous vision and sees the second level before he is there, which leads to a lot of huge gains. He's run for over 1800 yards for two consecutive years with 18 and 23 touchdowns respectively, so he's put up elite numbers to match. He's going to run a 4.4X 40 at 230lbs.

If you don't think this kid is special, I can't help but think you just refuse to see it. I understand if you don't value runningbacks as high draft picks, but this kid is an elite talent.

If the FO really feels this way we aren't going QB at 4.

I heard next years draft has great RB's. Lots of them. Grab one then.

We don't need to try to get fancy or move around to draft Elliot.

JJ always thinks we are one player away, so not shocked by that comment. I see no way, shape, form or fashion they take a QB at #4. I think it will be Ramsey, Jack or Jaylon Smith (in a trade down).

Never said he wasn't a talent.

I just don't value his talent in the first round when i can draft someone a few rounds later who will produce similarly.

People keep saying you have to draft QB at 4.......if the value isn't there you don't draft a QB at 4. We aren't the Browns. If the team feels like Wentz or Goff or whoever has the most value at pick 4 then you take him regardless of position. If scouts and front office folks don't think highly of any of those QBs then grab another player. ....period

And I would add Bosa.

You said he wasn't a special runner. I just don't see how anyone can watch him and say that.

He is head and shoulders above any other back in this class, which is why he's currently the only back projected to go in the first round. To me, his talent is absolutely on par with Gurley's and he doesn't have the injuries or upright running style to boot.

Could a starter be had later on in this draft? Absolutely. Elliott is still a special type of talent though.

Whenever I say take the QB at #4, it is always with the provision that the scouts and personnel guys think he is good value at that spot.

Nobody ever said the Cowboys should reach for a QB.

I just think that at #4, there will be a QB worth the pick. And if so, you have to take him over any other position.

Oh yes they have. Almost everybody I have had a debate with about QB at 4 saids to reach for him. ........also what do you think they mean when they say we have to take a QB at 4 for the future? Again I'm not a professional scout but I see better players then Wentz and Goff and at 4 you take best player available period.

4 -12, the previous season.
Win loss records, don't lie.
Translation - This team is not in a win-now mode.

Notwithstanding the customary front office changes and termination of coaches contracts (which Jerry has failed to do), rebuilding should then commence with the drafting of the new franchise QB.

If we are truly in "win now" mode, those are probably the two players who could step in and make the most impact. It certainly is not going to be a CB/S hybrid we have to figure out where to play or a run and chase OLB.

The thing I like most about Elliot is we get a ton of draft picks if we trade down to get him.

We could fill a ton of holes with that 1 simple trade down.
