I think we would've thrown more, no way you add a receiver like Brown and throw 20x's a game.

Moreover we would've been better in 98, Irvin's consecutive catching streak wouldn't have ended at 117, and we beat the Cards in rd 1.

Yeah.
The article in the DMN was saying Irvin wasn't being selfish, but I have a hard time seeing it that way....at least to some degree.

I may get crucified for this, but I never thought Tim Brown was all that good. Saw a lot of drops from him late in his career and never seemed to have the onions to consistently go over the middle. Rarely made spectacular catches and seemed to go down easily with one defender tackling him. He came out highly touted but never seemed to be a game changer or the go to guy in the 4th quarter. He was fast and probably has some good stats and he was durable because he stayed in the game a long time but I do not recall Denver (division opponent) or any other teams having to double him up in coverage or highlighting him as the one to stop in order to win.
Hate to be such a downer but just my o

He wasn't of the calibre of the two WRs (Sterling Sharpe, Michael Irvin) drafted after him in the 1988 draft, however, it's hard to quibble with his career stats: 15,000 yards, 100 TDs, 1100 receptions.

To quote Joseph Stalin (not something I get to do here on CZ very often):

"Quantity has a quality all its own"

Hey, with the tens of millions he murdered, old Joe Stalin should have that quantity part nailed down real well!

I digress.....back to football

we dont know what Irvin knew, did anyone call mike selfish when he handed that list over (sotry i heard here) of guys who should be off the team so the team can go forward ad have winners? i didnt hear that word tossed around.

What if Irvin knew of something and didnt want it in Dallas?

You mean something personally from Brown?
Come on now, that's a total tangent.
With all the coke and whoring going on with that team, a pretty straight-laced Brown would have been a locker room upgrade..

Irvin said this much directly;
That he gets 8 per game
Novacek, Harper, and all the others get the remaining 12 and there's barely room for that. That there was no way Brown would get much.

But Brown was, and is, a great friend of Irvin's.
He may have been speaking truth and not have been selfish. I don't know his heart. I do know he wanted his catches no natter what.

do we know what went down, no? tons of factors could have been going on. I think if Irvin thought Brown could help us win, he would be all for it. Something went wrong, mgiht have been something Brown said that woudl have to be in his contract, could be someone Brown didnt like on the team and Irvin knew it would cause havoc, who knows.
