Michael, TJ, and Jaws all agree....

The key IMHO is getting one of the two BYE weeks. I said it at the time, and it holds true now more than ever, that Seattle loss is going to haunt us. It's a big difference between the second and third seed in this league.

Step 1: Win the division
Step 2: Secure a BYE week
Step 3: Win the Superbowl

If this team beats Denver at home next week and the Giants the week after that, that would be a 5 game winning streak and put step 1 to rest.

Agreed. That BYE week is big ....and not for nuthin' but our schedule isn't exactly easy from this point forward.

This team doesn't look Superbowl quality to me, but then again no single team in the NFC scares me. There is no reason I see that we couldn't make it based on the competition, but I have a hard time seeing us beating the AFC in the big one. I think we could match up better against a team like Pitt, while I see the Colts giving us fits. The Charges with a healthy Gates are a huge problem as well. Did they update his injury status?

Not to rain on the Kool Aid Parade (tm) but the Cowboys aren't even guaranteed a winning season yet much less a playoff spot or the division champion.

Let's take each game one at a time and let's see where we are.

We still have to play the Giants at the Meadowlands......and no telling what the weather will be like. Why do you think BP was working on the running game against Detroit.

We still have to play the Skins at home...again a chance of bad weather.

Carolina......Tampa Bay.....KC.......

We still have a lot of work ahead of us.

STL

All Im saying is theres not one team in the NFC that we should be afraid of.

We still have a lot of work to do in the remaining 6 weeks. but if/when in, its not unrealistic to think SB

Boy, when you lay out the schedule like that...it's scary. This season still has a long way to go.

Bingo! Agree 100%.

That being said, the players that I fear the most right now in the NFC (as far as the Cowboys are concerned) are:

Mike Vick
We struggle at times with the QB's who can fly, and he is the best at it. Thankfully, he is lucky to get 200 yards a game passing if that.

S. Alexander
Having an unreal season and is hard to contain. We did a good job last time though. Excellent back though with no huge weapons around him at the moment at WR.

Steve Smith
The guy is hot like fire on a team that hasn't been running the ball very well. Good return guy as well. We have the secondary to slow him down, but the guy is a gamer.

If we get through that schedule still in good shape.....we can safely say we have a pretty good team. ;)

I mentioned that today about vick. We have never played him and that would be such a huge wild card, I dont know how thoose guys would react to him.

I think Newman could keep Smith in check. Newman is also one of the best tackling corners, so thoose hitches wont turn into 70 yard romps

We dont play tampa bay unless it would be in the playoffs. Our remaining Sch is

Denver-- very tough game
Gaints- very winnable game
KC -- very winnable game
foreskins-- definte winnable game
Carolina- Tough game
st Louis-- very winnable game.

I think at worst we go 4-2 from here which puts at 11-5 and a first round bye
It wont be easy for sure,, but it is very doable. VERY doable.

Tampa Bay.....my bad

They are all winnable but it isn't going to be easy......A very tough schedule down the stretch. Go Cowboys

I think CBZ has hit it on the head. The way the OL has played as of late does not inspire a boatload of confidence, but if we get through this remaining schedule with some tough victories over teams of the caliber that are on there, we'll all be looking at this team in a completely different light at that point.

Yeah, in fact, let's wait to break out the hats and horns until we win the Super Bowl. That Commander monday night game was an example of celebrating too early.

barring injuries we will win the superbowl..

freeny will wear torrin tucker like a pair of pants.
i dont even think flo could tame him if he was on.
would be nice tho.

Well, it would be nice to make the playoffs first.

I'd say we're just a bit less than even money to get to the SB...again, IF we get in the playoffs.

And if we do, I'd figure us to be 12 point dogs to the Colts...if no one knocks them off. Pretty big upset.

Too many ifs...

I wanna get past the next two weeks with two wins. Then I'll feel a lot better.

Or Worse :eek::lmao2:

The NFC is wide open between 4 teams

Cowboys, Panthers, Seahawks, Falcons

People better start paying attention to the Bears.

Ill sell all my Marcellus Wiley trading cards if a 4th round rookie QB leds them to the superbowl.

Yea, greatD, but you got to scroe some points. What happens when theres 8 or 9 in the box stopping T-Jones?

The Bears had Walter Payton, Matt Suhey, Willie gault, a VERY good O line, and McMahon having a career year in addition to the great D. They have NO ONE even comparable on O this year. And their D - while it is VERY GOOD - is no where NEAR 1985. True, the teams in the NFL are not as good in this age of parity, but the Bears O just is not good enough when they run into a good D.
