Michael Trigg

Cowboys Snag Baylor TE Michael Trigg in Undrafted Free Agency
Last updated 10 hours ago
The Dallas Cowboys quickly signed Baylor tight end Michael Trigg, a 6-foot-4 athletic standout with NFL-record wingspan for his position, right after the draft. Despite a breakout senior year of 50 catches, 694 yards, and six touchdowns—plus All-Big 12 honors—past disciplinary issues like a suspension kept him undrafted. Dallas, needing depth behind Jake Ferguson, eyes him as a potential weapon for Dak Prescott, joining a strong undrafted class that includes TCU's DJ Rogers and others.
We didn’t need depth behind Ferguson. Spann-Ford has been a solid addition who has pushed Schoonmaker down the depth chart. I’m all for improving the depth, though.

I just watched film on Michael Trigg, what a free agent pickup. This guy catches everything and most of his catches are contested catches, Trigg looks like Dez Bryant when he high points the ball in the red zone. This guy makes the 53 and he will be a problem for NFL defenses, that is my assessment. 6-4 240 lb slot receiver- tight end, this guy should make this offense even better.

Lunda Wells went down to Waco pre draft to work this kid out I believe. We need an athletic TE for a change.
I am a believer after watching Triggs game film, he was a 3rd round prospect looks good, can this kid keep his head on straight, he has the physical tools to prosper.

Wasn't he on the Giants superbowl team? Not saying that excuses his time with the boys, but Witten alsostopped his progress in Dallas by being a straight up warrior.
Yep, dumb people post dumb things. Marty B did win a Superbowl with the Giants, they lost him to Chicago and he was a leader there. Witten, 5.2 forty yard dash, was an 8 year progress stopper.

Brugler
  • Big, powerful hands to stab throws (multiple “wow” catches on 2025 tape)
  • Humongous catch radius to rescue throws and win jump-ball situations
  • Will draw pass interference penalties on slot fades and seams
This guy could be a red zone beast; it is all up to him now. Dallas has a big receiver as an undrafted free agent that was a projected 3rd round pick. This guy could make this offense unstoppable and make every skill position player better.

Fingers cross........

This ^^^^^

It will be a battle between Trigg and DJ Rogers. Might come down to blocking and ability to play special teams, which will be the role that replaces Schoonmaker. Spann Ford has offensive potential and blocking ability so it will be tough for either of these rookies to unseat him. And we already know Ferguson will get a ton of targets so he's going nowhere

Sadly. Ferguson is a j a g.

Dumb post. MB was a pain in the butt; yeah he played good with the Giants but they chose not to keep him which says a lot right there.
HE had all word talent but Jag mentality

Could be the Schoonmaker replacement. or even Spann-Ford.
I know many like him over Schoonmaker, and has shown some potential. But I think they want to see more in the passing game.
Schoonmaker in the last year of his contract. I doubt the offer him a 2nd contract. Or can they even trade him for a late round draft pick. Maybe during TC.
I don't think Spann-Ford is in any danger of being replaced. He's the best blocking TE on the team.
Schoonmaker or whatever needs to go.

Trigg has to grow up
his issues is why he was not drafted
another natural athlete who has never had to really work his butt off and keep his act together because people kept making excuses for him and letting him get away with stuff

After watching Martellus Bennett waste all the natural physical abilities needed to be a HOF TE, and put together an incredibly below average career, my hopes aren't high.

The percentage of leopards who find a way to change their spots is low, but fingers crossed for this young man.
Agree. You cant reason with stupid.

Come on man!!! The guy is a nightmare in the locker room, had issues with teammates and was suspended for a game. Not to mention injuries and a lot of drops.
I read Brugler's entire profile and history on him via The Beast. He makes NO mention of him having issues with his teammates or the locker room being a 'thug' as you mention.

Brugler ( The Beast )

Weaknesses

  • Plays high in and out of breaks
  • Lacks consistency as a route runner and tends to prematurely reveal intentions
  • Doesn’t always play with the same urgency mid-route
  • Tied for FBS-lead among tight ends in 2025 with seven drops
  • Wasn’t consistently the aggressor at the point of attack in the run game
  • Late to lock on and sustain, which leaves him falling off blocks (called for holding against Cincinnati and UCF)
  • Battled through bruised left shoulder for much of 2025 season; missed five games as a sophomore at Ole Miss with broken right collarbone (Oct. 2022); missed six games as a freshman at USC after spraining right knee (Oct. 2021)
  • Served one-game suspension for “disciplinary matter” at both Ole Miss (Nov. 2022) and at Baylor (Sept. 2024); involved in sideline incident with former Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades in 2025 — Rhoades is alleged to have taken exception to a gold, long-sleeved undershirt worn by Trigg during a home game against Arizona State (Rhoades’ role in the incident was investigated by the university)
  • Maturity has been questioned by NFL teams (NFL scout: “I know how much he likes football, but he needs hard coaching … and you hope he develops better consistency, on and off the field.”)
