Was it today? I read a blurb somewhere that "the Michigan pro day is Friday" and assumed it meant today...was curious how Manningham ran

Ok....sorry, I didn't read your post carefully.

You couldn't find the numbers either, huh?

I heard that Manningham ran a 4.4...but that's unsubstantiated.

if he ran a 4.4 he probably sealed a 1st rd grade...if he ran another 4.5+ he probably goes somewhere in rd 2....4.4 or so is closer to what I thought his speed really was, so maybe he just had a bad day at the combine last month

I know alot of people on here dont like him, but I do for our offense...he would make a good complement speed wise to Owens/Crayton

I found two posts on Manningham in one of the Michigan forum, supposedly Todd McShay reported he ran 4.4, another post says he had one time of sub 4.4

I like Manningham as well. Im not sold on him yet. I can not decide what WR I want to take in the first couple rounds. I would like to pick up Bowman and Marcus Smith in later rounds though.

According to some fans on the UM message board............

"He recorded times of 4.39 & 4.42 in the 40, and he increased his vertical to 35inches (32 at the Combine)".

even if he runs another 4.5, he still plays faster than that, I would love to have him on our roster

I agree, I was just surprised at the combine time because he CLEARLY looks fast on the field, even when going against other guys that obviously have speed themselves

I dont think he'd be a bad addition at all and probably would have the most IMMEDIATE impact of any WR we could draft this yr...long term a couple others may end up as better overall players, but Manningham would be a good complement to what we have at WR right now

I'm tired of folks talking about 40 times... Manningham is overrated anyway, he drops too many easy passes, I'd rather have the kid from Michigan State in the 2nd round.

add Early Doucet and Earl Bennett to that list

another receiver who plays much faster than he timed is Alabama's DJ Hall, he's been timed in the 4.5 and above range, but he's a very fast guy on the field

Bennett has been very underrated in the SEC, but it seemed everyone had a hard time guarding him even though they all knew he was gonna get the ball

I know a couple people in this forum love Doucet, but I have never been impressed...he's always hurt and his yds per catch is pedestrian...looks like a 3rd WR at best to me

I agree, from what I saw of him, hands were questionable.
Not my choice for receiver in the draft.

Devin Thomas, won't make it to us in the second round, we need to trade back on the 28th pick for additional selections

Manningham is a 1 route receiver though.

We can find better athletic prospects at that position.

Watch it Mister!!! Well ofcourse unlesss Michigan team is All-pro in your mind :D

Manningham does play much faster than his 40 times. But he is bit of primadonna. I don't like him in 1st round at all. But then I don't like any WR this year to be taken in first round.

From Gil Brandt. I think Manningham has sealed himself a 1st rd grade now. I know many in here dont like him but he's one of only two WR's I'd draft in the first rd. (Kelly the other) I think MM probably will have the most immediate impact of any WR drafted this yr. He'd be a good complement for TO and Crayton in our offense I think.

Michigan (March 14)
There were 31 teams in attendance -- Denver being the only team not present -- including Lions head coach Rod Marinelli and Chargers GM A.J. Smith. Ten Prospects took part, including OT Jake Long, WR Mario Manningham and QB Chad Henne.

» WR Mario Manningham (5-11 3/8, 183): Ran a 4.44 and a 4.38 in the 40, had a 35-inch vertical jump, ran a 4.38 short shuttle and kept his numbers from the combine for everything else.

» OT Jake Long (6-7, 315): Kept his number from the combine and only ran position drills, but had a great workout.

» RB Mike Hart (5-9, 209): Had a 32-inch vertical jump, ran a 4.33 short shuttle, a 6.91 cone drill and kept his numbers from the combine for everything else. He had a good workout and caught the ball well.

» QB Chad Henne (6-2 7/8, 228): Only ran position drills and kept his number from the combine for everything else.

» DE Shawn Crable (6-4 3/4, 244): Ran position drills both as a defensive end and a linebacker and kept his number from the combine for everything else.

» WR Adrian Arrington (6-3, 202): Ran a 4.55 and a 4.58 in the 40, had a 36-inch vertical jump and ran position drills. He did not run at the Combine.

» DB Jamar Adams (6-2 1/8, 211): Ran position drills and kept his number from the combine for everything else.

» OL Adam Kraus (6-5 ½, 292): Ran a 5.35 and a 5.40 in the 40, a 4.79 short shuttle, a 7.65 cone drill, had a 26 ½-inch vertical jump, an 8"2'-inch long jump and ran position drills.

darnit, i was hoping we could get him on the cheap in the 2nd or 3rd. we may have to take him at 22
