Cover different topics. I know there is a thread about Gholston from this.
However he also talks about the WR's out there were Lamb, Washington, Tolbert, but no surprise there.

MM talks about Zeke and how he is all football.
And MM talks about how they will utilize the 11 hours per day they have with players. practice and meetings.

That 20 million $$ in cap savings that was mentioned by Spags, in his article, could come in handy when and if some player gets injured. It'll likely cut into that amount in a fairly costly manner, to sign a recognizably named veteran. It seldom fails to happen in TC. Let's hope not, anyway, though.

so one thing that I took out of this is that it looks like they've shored up cap to not be the best roster coming into week 1, but to have the ability to add pieces before the trade deadline in the year.

It looks like from Stephens comments they are going to look at how the team is looking going into the season and have capital to improve throughout the year a la 2/3rd round pick for a Von Miller type player, OBJ trade or something along these lines as there may be a player in a contract dispute that we can use as a rental. This is a positive twist for me as it shows they are adjusting the approach to the draft only philosophy.

That was Mick saying he hopes that's what they use the money for, if it's needed. And I think OBJ is a free agent.

I'm looking forward to seeing James Washington in preseason. I need to know if we can rely on him as a #2.

Lord help us with McGovern managing LG

I think they don't want to just hand it to the rookie. It's not like Tyler wasn't getting some snaps with the first team. The team is essentially telling him, earn it, rookie, and telling McGovern to prove that he should start instead. If McGovern's out there when the season starts, then either something went surprising right with him or terribly wrong with Tyler (or Tyron, which would force Tyler to tackle).

Hope they can manage the practices better
We don't need anymore penalties for improper practicing.

That 20m earmarked for Dak?

Need more discipline. As what Martin was talking about.
This starts with the coaches, but the players must pay more attention as well.

Maybe punishment should be if you screw up. You wash the player next to your locker jock strap, hand wash. :lmao2:

I'm not a cap expert but if they need a player don't most teams just do a signing bonus to push money out to future years when the salary cap is higher?

Then you’d have to sign for more than one season
Most injury signings are just for the remainder of the year
But that 20 mil rolls over to next year if not spent

That, or they can use it to remodel the yacht.

Could be but that's hard to say. Is it already time? I thought he got his due by way of his last contract.

The FO might be saving $$ to fill a hole left by an injured player. Seems it happens every single year.
Hope you are right Mr. Flop!
I read that they were rolling that 20 Mill over to next year to fund Dak's Contract.
Could be wrong.
I would love some free agent signings !

Daks future salaries are already baked into the cap
So the cap space for next year will go up if we roll it over and daks salary is already included
But it allows space to sign a guy up for a contract, sign a FA or what ever they decide to do with it. Lamb and Diggs are soon eligible to sign so not a bad idea to look ahead a year or two when it comes to the cap
Someone is very likely to get injured this year so may use some there but rolling over money with a young team with big contracts coming up is smart

I'm no capologist, by any means, so what you read may very well be something to bear in mind. We'll see if the Cowboys are forced into using some of that cap space to sign a veteran down the line. Hopefully, we'll keep everyone healthy but that's always a shaky proposition in pro football. Perhaps that scenario explains Stephen's reluctance to sign veteran backup help lately. It's very possible.

Best thing you can do is forget that Cap money Bullflop, those dollars are already being allocated for future retention of our franchise expenses.

Maybe so, by the looks of things. Stephen is clutching cap money like there's no tomorrow. Obviously, we're tiptoeing w/our spending. Waletzko is already experiencing a shoulder problem, according to reports. We're left to wonder about our backup needs at LT now.
