Mickey: Cornell Green for ROH

The Hall of fame voters purposely keeps guys out if they feel one franchise has too many players in already. They say they don't do that but they do. In other words, our team has players that don't get in, in mass because of the optics. Its a shame.
This is ROH

OK, My Brain was thinking hof for some reason. Heck yes, he needs to be in the roh like yesterday.

It's about freaking time one of the Cowboys writers took up the cause for Cornell. The man was as good as any DB this team has had. He was smooth as silk and never flashy. He did his job without telling everyone how great he was.

Very good article from Mickey. About John Wooten and Cornell Green. And to Green should be considered next inductee into the Cowboys ROH.

I know many of you do not like Mickey. But this is not a fluff piece, or pumping of sunshine.
Just a very good article about these two guys, for some Cowboys history.

Drew Pearson and Bob Lilly gives a story about Cornell as well.
Not before Blaine Nye gets in.......not one single second before.

Cornell Green is way overdue as a ROH member. Green was an All Pro at both Corner and Safety and played in two SBs, winning a ring in SB VI.

He was also one of the most respected guys on those early Cowboys teams. Tough, rangy and durable. He was a mainstay in the original “Doomsday Defense”.

Its about time Bozo's!!! I've been saying this for at least 10 years watch the pathetic performance of Jonesboys players at the Safety positions.

Cornell Green and Darren Woodson have everything in common but the most tackles record.

Still so many of the old Cowboys need to get in but I bet the next will be Romo and Whitten.

Landry's players are criminally under-represented in the Hall of Fame.

For every player from another team that was inducted, I can name you a Dallas Cowboy playing the same position that matches and in most cases exceeds their accomplishments.

You don't have 20 consecutive winning season without some of the best players in NFL history.

That 20 consecutive winning seasons is still the record to this day. Belichick made it to 19.

Some analysts went back in history and counted the quarterback sacks which we not actually official until 1982.

However, from the time of the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 which brought the NFL to a total of 26 teams until 1989, when Landry was no longer the head Coach, 13 NFL players recorded over 100 sacks.

Three of them were Dallas Cowboys.

Only one is in the Hall of Fame.

DE Harvey Martin was ranked 5th, topping all Cowboys.

The most egregious denial in Hall of Fame history certainly has to be DE Harvey Martin.

114 sacks in 11 seasons, he averaged over 10 sacks a season throughout his career.

Four time Pro Bowl and a 1st team All Pro.

Super Bowl 12 MVP

1977 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Started in 22 playoff games, including 6 NFC championship games and 3 Super Bowls. He recorded at least one sack in 13 of those games and 2 sacks in four of them.

Did you know that "Mean" Joe Green, the Steelers superstar D-lineman had only one season in his career with double digit sacks?

Those with voting authority for the Hall of Fame should be ashamed of themselves. Harvey Martin's credentials were impeccable.

DE Harvey Martin
G John Niland
CB/SF Cornel Green
OT Ralph Neely
DE Ed Jones
MLB Lee Roy Jordan
G Herbert Scott
WR Tony Hill

Their combination of multiple individual recognition and multiple team accomplishments gives them better credentials than inductees that played the same position.

Players that participated in the decade of the 70's went to 7 NFC championship games and 5 Super Bowls.

The Pittsburgh Steelers from the 1970s say “hi“ and laugh at this concept.
