Mickey: Maybe this Worm is Really is Turning

https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/spagnola-maybe-this-worm-really-is-turning

Nice article from Mickey about how things have turned.
Mostly focused on the defense. As he states, 23 new players.

"This Parker exudes confidence. Man, he has these guys communicating, and the players have figured out they'd best know what's going on at all times in this defense, unlike last year when on too many snaps players seemed lost, busting coverages, missing assignments."

And as he says, things have been Quiet. No drama, no contract holdouts, no players starting on PUP. Well, now Hennessy is out for the year. But he meant players like Bland, Overshown, Revel.

And then there is this.
"There has been little need over these past several weeks for any front office interviews to be conducted, Jerry and Stephen Jones popping into an OTA practice a time or two."
I also think it's interesting that former players are referred to "poison pills" after they are gone. I guess there is a need for some to devalue them since they are no longer Cowboys, but there are all kinds of different personalities that make a up a team. That doesn't make players bad teammates or cancers. There are things that both Diggs and Parsons could have handled better, but the same can be said of the front office. I just think it's looking for a scapegoat to say something like that, as if Diggs and Parsons were the problem here when either they were gone or didn't play much while our defense was on its way to one of the worst seasons in team history.

So why do some make it feel it may not be what it was in 2026?
But yet many on here sing high praises for teams like the Rams, Seahawks, Packers as being better. When they did not do anything to improve their offense either. Not anymore than Dallas.

Heck some still slobber over the Eagles and they lost AJ Brown.
Who knows why people think they way they do?
I worry that the offense may step back, just a little.
Even if it does I am hopeful it can get a little better in the red zone. We weren't very good there last year.

With so much focus on the defense I hope the offense doesn't lack or struggle
How could they possibly.
DAk lamb Pickens Williams Ferguson and a bunch of number one picks on the offensive line.

If they struggle they're being coached improperly because you certainly have enough talent there to do well there is no excuse.

Mickey is like the Jason Garrett of reporters these days and understand he has to walk the line to keep Jethro happy... Having said that, teams can turn things around and improve quickly in this league we just haven't seen the cowboys do it like other teams because Jerry has been happy to just to be competitive... Of course he would love to win, but hasn't shown he is willing to do what it takes to win and that is turning stuff over to younger and more astute football people.. As much as I really like Shotty as a person and coach, I'm still not sure if he is even a marginal head coach, and CP who looks like he could be good on paper hasn't proven a thing yet.... I do believe that things have been pointing up in terms of the direction of the organization, and as always it's going to be very interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Well if you have a good product you don't have to oversell it.

We've seen talent on a lot of teams over the years, anything can happen I hope it's great but I would've wouldn't be surprised if things weren't as good as it was last year that's all

Yep he would certainly add another dimension to the offense, especially if they involve him in the passing game and get him the ball in space.
Can you see us doing that, I like seeing teams actually have a plan to attack someone during the game. We seem to with this kind of player will throw it to him just to get a few yards in the flats and usually there's a defender inches from him!

Most of us and the media assume the offense will be just as good as last year.
We all not what happens when you assume.
I hope it's better than it was, at least in the red zone.
People always count on the good things staying pat or potential finally being realized. No one ever seems to consider there could be regression someplace. Part of the bias of hope.

If you have the weapons, yeah. If not, then not really.

There’s that cute little execution factor as well:

Hey Kool Aid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All 11 starters are returning. Could you hope for something better?
Im still holding out for "Tuna-free" Dolphin to hit the fish markets......porpoise is just fine as well.

Not snobbish about these things

If all of these new players are so good, then why were they available?

We will wait for your reply, Mickey.

Any concerns with the Mike lb? They keep rotating guys in for that role. I thought Winters was gonna assume it
Would you prefer they just hand it to someone instead of fighting for it? This is exactly what we’ve been asking for for many years.

Both Schottenheimer and Parker said they would be trying different people in the role all the way into training camp.

They’re just following their plan.

But yes, there should obviously be concern at MLB as it was the worst position on the team last year
