No problem, assuming fans are aware that he's not a real journalist but instead a paid PR flack advancing an agenda. Nor does he have any standing to pass judgment on real journalists. That'd be like Ted Baxter panning Edward R. Murrow.

That's too harsh and comparing Mick's job to Murrow or Baxter is not accurate either. Mick's job is not to just report the news like a reporter, ie: " just the news, baby ". His job is also to explain the team's reasoning for doing what they do, wether he agrees with it or not. Yes, he does give his opinion and sometimes it blurs with the team's message, but if you listen very carefully to what he's saying, he doesn't necessarily speak for himself all the time. The problem is that when that message does not resonate with the fans, he gets caught in the backlash, understandably so, since he's the messanger.

I get caught up in it myself at times. I'll try to explain what the team might be thinking when they do something and it comes out as if it's my opinion when I don't necessarily agree with it.

I've been following Mick since the old Dallas Cowboys' Weekly Newspapers back in the 80's, throught " The Insider " via e-mail, and today. He's very good at what he does and his reports, if you pay close attention, gives unprecedented insights into how Valley Ranch operates. Better than Galloway, or any other so call " sources close with the team " guy that's out there. You might not agree with how they do things, and believe me I'm 50/50when it comes to agreeing with them, but you get an understanding of " why " they do them.

Haven't listened to his interviews or read his columns in years because he has no credibility. It's no different than a presidential press secretary flacking for his boss. Clowns like Mick shouldn't be calling other people "clowns."

Again, that's PR and infotainment, not journalism. A few years back, some readers were wondering why we weren't aggressively pursuing Leroi Glover, who was a free agent at the time. Mick said we should abstain, noting that "there's a reason why the Saints let him go." Then Jerry signs Glover and Mick suddenly starts singing a different tune. That's what hacks do.

When you can produce his first article, since he has been IN HIS PRESENT POSITION where he has been SHARPLY critical of Jerry, without a bunch of niceties thrown in so that even the criticisms seemed to be compliments (i.e., Jerry's main problem is that he wants to win so bad), I'll believe you.

Can you show me one like that? Even one?

:laugh2:

Are you crazy? I'm not going to go searching for his articles looking for criticism of Jerry. You either believe it or you don't. I know what I have read and heard from him.

For the first time in a long time I listened to cupcake's wade presser yesterday. One of those " real " journalists asked him this questions after he said something about the team being winners:

" How do you know you have winners ? What have they won ? What has this bunch won ? "

At first, it ticked me off because cupcake came back with a softball answer about being 8-4 which means they've won 8 games.. blah, blah, blah.. when he should have responded with: " what do you know about football ? "

Then it came to me and I wished I was sitting in cup cake's chair. I would have responded with this:

"Let me ask you something, do you consider the Saints winners ? Yes ? Why ? What has that team won ? Your turn".

Then I would have sat back and watch one of those " real " journalists squirm on that chair while looking like a *******...

thats part of the problem; wade doesnt know how to use the media like jimmy johnson did

jimmy used the media for like meetings with the team, sending a message

wade doesnt know how to do that;

;)

Mickey doesn't offer unique insight, and he's pro-Cowboys generally, but he does have unique access which is sometimes interesting. You have to take his stories with a grain of sugar, but I don't understand the active dislike for the guy just because of who signs his paychecks.

I can't imagine what reading of the local 'journalists' in Dallas finds Mickey wanting and slow-footed hacks like Calvin Watkins and JJT credible.

Not just that, he disliked Marion before that because Marion doesn't speak to the media. Not only does he not speak to the media, but when he is obligated to, he tends to give one word answers to get it over as soon as possible.

Mickey has also gotten on the o-line because they do the same thing.
