That's too harsh and comparing Mick's job to Murrow or Baxter is not accurate either. Mick's job is not to just report the news like a reporter, ie: " just the news, baby ". His job is also to explain the team's reasoning for doing what they do, wether he agrees with it or not. Yes, he does give his opinion and sometimes it blurs with the team's message, but if you listen very carefully to what he's saying, he doesn't necessarily speak for himself all the time. The problem is that when that message does not resonate with the fans, he gets caught in the backlash, understandably so, since he's the messanger.
I get caught up in it myself at times. I'll try to explain what the team might be thinking when they do something and it comes out as if it's my opinion when I don't necessarily agree with it.
I've been following Mick since the old Dallas Cowboys' Weekly Newspapers back in the 80's, throught " The Insider " via e-mail, and today. He's very good at what he does and his reports, if you pay close attention, gives unprecedented insights into how Valley Ranch operates. Better than Galloway, or any other so call " sources close with the team " guy that's out there. You might not agree with how they do things, and believe me I'm 50/50when it comes to agreeing with them, but you get an understanding of " why " they do them.
