He's employed by the Dallas Cowboys. It's not his job to be objective.
Eh, Nick, Nate, Helman (when he was there), Ambar, and many, many others employed by the Cowboys are plenty critical of the team (despite what the naysayers on this board claim). But Mickey truly is a giant homer who can't admit anything bad about anything the team does. Derek Eagleton will admit problems but does sugarcoat things, or in the least typically takes a glass half-full approach to everything.

What broadcast did you watch from the LAC game?
The Dallas announcers said that the 1st pre-season game was Ball's 1st true action since early in the 2020 college season. Almost 2 years of not playing a game.

I will give him another game to see. Yes I agree he has not shown much. But I will take Mickey's word since he is around the team and coaches EVERY DAY.
You guys only have opinions as I do. You base it on that you don't like Mickey, because he brings a positive feel, as to your negative ways against him.

If they can upgrade over him, yes do it. But until then we may see some progress.
Every day in camp is more important than 30 snaps in a preseason game. He's been horrendous and has had all camp to improve but he has instead seemingly regressed. He must have whiffed over 5 times last game and might have been worse week 1. If we can't be objective at how horrible Ball has been, I'm not sure what it says for our objectivity and Mickey's track record of crapping rainbows about this team is no longer up for debate, is it?

that is not the point.
The coaches want to see if the players are lining up correctly. Making their assignments correctly. It doesn't matter who they are going against. Yes, at that point it seems the better players wins.
However, for any player no matter what string. Do your assignment correctly and you win against your opponent.
That is what the coaches are looking for.
Some posters don't understand football. Good explanation JC.

The only item he wrote that seems to contradict all of tue other reports from TC and preseason games is his suggestion that Josh Ball has improved and is showing he can be the swing T. All other reports, including those made by otjer dallascowboys.com writers suggest otherwise.

The only improvement from Ball i see is that he is on the field and not on IR. As far as performance, underwhelming to say the least.

don't worry these guys are acting like after 2 years of football they'd be able to step in and compete right away... fan base has been spoiled with tyron smith... not all o-lineman come out of the draft looking like studs..

We have fans that rather hate on a media guy than to actually talk football and what the article was about.
I bet 90% just responded and did not at least skim through the article.

Worlds worst fans.

He lost all credibility when he said how much Ball was improving. Clearly this was just a feel good puff piece.
I thought the same when I read that. But in all fairness, Ball improved as the game progressed. That said, he couldn’t help but improve as bad as he played early.

The one 100% factual thing that many of us have learned about Mickey over the years...some of us quicker than others....is that he's only critical of a player or coach after they've been released or fired....only then, does he feel like its safe to do so.
