He's saying that since teams with inferior records are defeating teams with better records, we might as well let more teams into the playoffs.

Then why not give more 9-7 teams the opportunity. They could earn it as well.

In the NHL, 16 of 30 make the playoffs, used to be 16 of 21 but they added nine expansion teams since 1990.

I suppose we could agree to disagree on this matter.

Just scrap the byes and have everyone play in the first round.

I would compromise on adding a seventh team and only giving one team a bye.

My bad. I thought about it and I see what you mean. That being said, I don't have a problem with the current wild card format. It's just a shame that teams who do well throughout the regular season somehow suck in the playoffs.

It's hard reading this board during this time of the year.

Alot of bitterness towards other teams for being able to accomplish what we can't.

Even if they changed the Playoff System, the Cowboys problems still would remain.

the reason this happens is because you only play each team once. random luck counts too much. you can't do a 2 out of 3 though because teams will be down to the 3rd stringers after 1 round. basketball has the best playoff system ever. lots of teams still get in, but they have to beat teams 4 times. this weeds out the lucky teams from the good teams(most of the time). sadly, this won't work with a contact sport.
