Greenberg says 8-8, Golic says 7-9 for our Cowboys!

Let's hear it, Zoners...what are your thoughts?**

Was listening to Doug Gotlieb over the weekend, he predicted a "special" season for the Cowboys and thought we were gonna win alot of games.

If we go 7-9 or 8-8 then Wade, Garrett, and all the other coaches will be on the fastest thing out of Dallas.

Talk about a disaster season to open the new stadium.

Really? Must not have been on the Gottlieb show, where he normally kills us per his show angle, I suppose.

Mike Greenberg is clueless about sports in general - he's really just a journalist that happens to work in sports. Golic I respect a bit more, but he's been out of the league for quite some time as well and might have some bias having played for the Eagles :)

Both of them are generally entertaining though - their routine of Greeney being frail and feminine never gets old :lmao:

:

Pretty sure it was him, if not then it was whoever was on ESPN radio Saturday afternoon, around 5 or so.

Yeah, that was him - I was listening too, but turned him off because I normally can't stand his overtly-sensationalist angle.

Thanks for the link Hypnotoad!

After listening, it didn't sound like they bashed the Cowboys, they merely put all of their stock in the Cowboys' recent trend of late-season fades - and that's understandable.

I disagree, but I can see why they think the way they do.

And in looking at the Cowboys' schedule, it seems to set-up the same way.

The opponents get a lot tougher as the season progresses.

Even so, I think they're going to be a better team than either Greenie or Golic think.

7-9, though, really? Considering we beat Washington twice, that leaves 5 wins. 4 against the AFC West, and then 1 more with all those other games? That would mean we beat Tampa Bay, and lose twice to Philly, twice to NY, to New Orleans, Carolina, Atlanta, Greenbay, AND Seattle.

It's not happening.

7-9, 8-8, 9-7 seem to be fairly safe picks for analysts. If you go higher you are a homer. If you go lower you are a hater. I will go higher though 11-5 or better. I am hoping for great things this year and love how everyone is underestimating us. I think our division is getting overrated now especially Giants and Eagles.

8-11 wins sounds about right to me, assuming we stay healthy at certain key positions.

I think we go 11-5 or better. I see our 5 losses coming in splits with NYG and PHI, as well as possibly Atlanta, New Orleans, and San Diego. Atlanta seems to always have our number, as does New Orleans. We always have Carolina's number -- Julius Jones had one of his biggest games against a really good Carolina team back in the day IN Carolina. San Diego always earns respect until they find a reason to give it away...they had a near implosion last season, but they get the benefit of the doubt from me.

Other than that, I think we roll our schedule, and possibly do even better if we keep the foot on the gas after Turkey Day.

I think our stadium is going to give us an advantage at home initially. We need to get off to a good start though at Tampa things can get ugly if we fumble that one. Ideally, we go 11-5 or better because I am sick of inconsistency at the coaching position and don't want to give up another 1-3 years for a new coaching philosophy to take place.

7-9 is utterly ridiculous. I don't give a rat's *** what angle you're shooting from.

I've been very guarded this off-season about the Cowboys and the amount of success I think they will enjoy, but that is just asinine. Here's to the Cowboys shocking the world, come February!:beer1:

I'll steal some verbage that I saw on a sign at the Miami vs. Florida St. game last night:

Fear the future. Envy the past. Go Cowboys!

The Cowboys have gone 9-7 three out of the last four years. 8-8 is hardly an unrealistic prediction. It's not like they said 3-13.

The reasonable assumption is that the Cowboys are somewhere in the neighborhood of 9-7 until they prove otherwise.

Unless you are a Cowboys homer, this is an extremely tough season to predict.

Cowboys fans are hanging our hats on the belief that Felix will stay healthy, Marty B will be a big factor, Roy W will bounce back to 2006-7 form, Ellis and Burnett will not be missed... and we will avoid the injury bug:crossed:

I can't blame an outsider for predicting 7-9 to 9-7. If you think about it, every teams fans are expecting improvement over last season so where are all those extra wins going to come from?

If all (or most) goes well, IMHO we go 10-6 / 11-5 and scare some people in the playoffs. If two or three of the things we are hanging our hats on don't pan out, we could potentially bottom out at 6-10 / 5-11 and be staring at a new coaching staff for 2010.

BTW, Washington's defense will be much improved and Philly should field a very explosive offense this year. So it looks like we go 3-3 in the NFCE at best.

Noober's prediction:

10-6 NFC wildcard / play in the NFC Championship game... after that my crystal ball gets hazy

everyone's talking about the Eagles being the best in the NFC on paper, or the Vikes being best in the NFC on paper.

People said we were the best on paper as well, last year.

I think we start out strong and fizzle again. Not so much because of a 'December slump', but there's some positions I don't like the depth at and I don't think we can overcome them if there's injuries. It's probably going to be tough for us to go less than 7-9 (or even 8-8 for that matter) because Wade's defenses produce a high number of sacks (which has a high correlation to winning in the NFL) and Romo is at the very least a top half QB in the league.
