We were 9-7 last year.
That was after a ridiculous rash of injuries.
- We lost our starting QB for several games, and when he came back, he wasn't right because he was throwing with a jacked hand. During that time, we had the worst backup in the league playing for us (a problem that has now been solved).
- We lost our top 2 RBs. Luckily Choice did well, but relying on your 3rd RB down the stretch is rough.
- Witten played injured the last half of the season.
- We lost our starting LG early in the season and had to rely on garbage.
- Hell, we even lost our Pro Bowl punter.
- We had injuries in our secondary
On top of that, we had all the BS lockerroom drama that was messing with the team's heads, pitting players against each other and the coaches.
Now everyone is going to experience some injuries. But we had significant injuries at key positions. And we had all the nonsense in the locker room.
Despite all of that, we went 9-7 in the toughest division in football. And if the Ravens don't break those two runs late in the game, we are 10-6. And if Tony does not get hurt, there's at least 2 games there. But that's not important.
To assume we are going to be worse than we were last year at 9-7, you have to assume that locker room chemistry is not important at all. You also have to assume that we are going to have more injuries at vital positions than we had last year.
I call bull**** on all of that.
This is a playoff team. And it would have been in the playoffs last year but for the all the garbage that is unlikely to repeat itself.
