Mike D'Antoni gone as Lakers head coach

I think it absolutely was. I mean, why on earth would you hire a guy like D"Antonio if you were serious about winning?

Then why hire him with Dwight Howard who they tried to resign? I think they thot they were in try to win mode initially. Maybe the light came on this past season, but it didnt seem that way previously.

I think the writing was probably on the wall with Howard. Howard was either going to be on board with what the Lakers wanted to do or he was not. The rebuild would have had to have taken place either way with Kobe near the end and the cap situation and age factors involved with the team. Howard had to accept that there would have to be, at least 1 year of bad talent no matter what, if he was going to stay with the Lakers long term. He decided not to and the rest is history. I think that was probably the thought process there. However, that's just my opinion.
