I hadn't really thought much about Davis. Good player, very productive but now that he has posted 4.38 and a 4.46 in the forty, he is becoming a first day option for us at RB IMO.

5'9" 217 lbs. at the combine but I understand that he plays closer to 220/225.

I like him ,cowboys reportedly have sent a coach to his pro day.this guy will get you those dirty yards.

First day? As in first round? ummmm, no.

First day as in 1st or 2nd round.

I don't know if he could move into the 1st round or not. The speed helps that a lot. He's only a Jr. so that helps.

He's really interesting. Tough inside runner with the speed to get outside. Catch's the ball well and can pass protect.

Soph. Yr. - 1183 Yds Rush, 11 TDs, 5.8 YPC. 34 Rec. 354 Yds Rec. 10.4 YPC. 1535 Total Yards.

Jr. Yr. - 982 Yds Rush, 9 TDs, 4.9 YPC. 32 Rec., 368 Yds. Rec., 2 TDs, 1350 Total Yards, 11 TDs.

I did read that he looked faster and slimmer but that his conditioning seemed off or not quite on par. No biggie. Probably lost a bit too much weight too fast in order to run a faster 40. We seemed to have paid close attention to him during his pro day. Wouldn't mind him in the 4th.

That makes more sense... but since the 2nd round is now day 2, I wanted to make sure. I still see the second as a long shot because this is such a deep RB draft. Third on, I could see.

He's not going to see the 4th with that 40 time. If we want him, I think it might have to be a 2nd round pick. If we are really luck, 3rd.

I think that 40 time will probably kill any chance of us getting him later.

Maybe. It's just that there are going to be plenty of backs taken in Rds 2 and 3 and I'm not sure if I'd rate him as high or higher than to warrant him being chosen in the 2nd more than some of the other guys. Also, there seems to be some discrepancies as to what he ran during his pro day. I've seen reports of times you posted, but I've also seen a report of him running a 4.52 on nfl.com. The latter seems more likely seeing as how he timed in the 4.6s at the combine. I have a hard time believing that he was able to shave nearly .30 seconds off his combine time.

If that time is true, that means that he has the 3rd fastest time behind Langford and David Johnston, just a tick faster then Gordon. I'll tell you know, he's a better inside runner then Langford or Gordon IMO. Haven't seen enough of Johnston to say that about him. He did it in the SEC too.

He is the 2nd best RB is this draft, IMO.

Gurley @ 1/27 would be a no-brainer.
Since that probably isn't in the cards, the third round is going to be loaded with RB's.

from Tony pauline-

Can't say the same for running back Mike Davis. While he was faster and looked a bit slimmer, sources say his conditioning was "not ideal," as Davis was not running through drills and struggled to get through pass-catching drills. Interesting note - the Dallas Cowboys sent a coach to specifically observe Davis. During the workout, which was run by the Tampa Bay Bucs, the Cowboys' coach was requesting for Davis to run specific drills. Shades of Tom Savage/Bill O'Brien from last year?

I go back and forth on Davis and Buck Allen as my favorite non round 1 RB at this point.

There's a lot to like about Mike Davis. Just watching his tape again, he cuts on a dime through traffic, has great vision and balance with that low center of gravity. I like the way he finishes his runs too, and he's always north and south.

With 4.4 speed behind our line he could be a nightmare for defenses much like another 5'9 guy we used to have.
He was projected 4/5th rd but If backs start flying off the board early..he may not be there for us in the third, not after that performance.

In 11 out of 36 career college games Mike Davis rushed for exactly 4.0 ypc or less.
