RB is his position, RIGHT? Therefore his primary responsibility should be rushing. If not call him a wingback or something like that. Fact is that as a RB rushing has NEVER been his best area. He is not big enough or strong enough to be a regular 20+ carry guy. Bush apologists convienently forget all the predictions made about how he was going to take the NFL by storm and revolutionize it, own it, carry it in his back pocket. He has been nowhere close to doing anything like that. Gale Sayers, indeed. Have seen nothing that reminds me of Gale Sayers (and I have looked at a lot of film on him);
sure he has had a couple of plays where he did look great- out of HOW MANY?
And it would seem those that hate on him conveniently forget that prior to drafting him it was widely said that he would not be an every down back and the reason that it would work well for him in New Orleans was because they already had a RB like McCallister. It was said AT THAT TIME that the saints would use him in the passing game, special teams and also a LIMITED number of carries. That is why they said there was no problem with the saints already having McCallister.
Now with the idea that he would change the game of football I will give you that was too much hype by the league. But make no mistake there are not too many RBs in the league right now that have as many Receptions as he does and he is just a rookie.
So he has not lived up to all the hype, but at the same time those claiming they said he would be a full time rusher and not mostly a part time rusher, big in the passing game and on Special teams are forgetting many of the pre-draft and also post draft (from the saints) write ups.
Once again he was NEVER drafted to be a full time runner.
