1. Good
2. Good
3. That's actually not funny at all
4. RB late I could see, not S
5. How is this a clarification?

Good info. Don't think Okafor is a 1st rounder either, and agree on Ogletree. Interesting about late draft value at S. Not sure I agree there. But late round RB, definitely.

I get the feeling that if Cowboys don't find great safety value in the first couple rounds, they are going roll with Church, Johnson, Allen, and a late-rounder. Which is fine with me.

Guess he was trying to be funny...which is why I posted four, instead of five.

Word is that Dallas does not think there is a huge difference between Vaccaro and some of the safety options available in rounds 2-4. It is possible they could go with linemen with their first three picks!

Also, word is (and it was confirmed last night by Bill Jones of CBS-11) that the Cowboys really like RB Burkhead (sp) from Nebraska -- he is the right kind of guy -- and if he is there in the 5th he might be their pick. We'll see....

If the value is there, that's fine with me. All things being equal, I'd much rather fix the lines and take a flier on the backfield than vise versa.

5 clarifications from this am w @NewSchoolSS @rjchoppy

1) #Cowboys DONT view UT's Okafor as a No. 1

2) #Cowboys have Georgia's Ogletree 'in the box' w charcter issues

3) Sporting News mock draft has #Cowboys picking S's in 1st & 2nd round. Funny.

4) #Cowboys see late-draft value at S and RB

5) I tried to say the word 'meme' on the radio and will never try to do so again.
1) Absolutely agree
2) Assumed we wouldn't take him Rd1 anyway
3) comical
4) Have been saying all along the real avlue at RB and S in this draft is rounds 2-5.

this is A-Okay with me. Fix the line and do whatever the hell else you want after that.

I would be okay with it as well.

I am not sure who they are targeting at safety in rounds 2-4 but my buddy would not name names and I don't want to push it. :D

As for Burkhead, my buddy mentioned him as "the right kind of guy" but Bill Jones specifically mentioned him last night on CBS-11 as a possible third-day pick (5th round). I really do not know that much about him but he was described as the Sean Lee of the offense. That wouldn't be too bad.

Burkhead is a bit of a Plano High School legend. Great in several sports, a good student, and great team mate. I mean, the guy played for Texas 5A State Championship basketball team. He's the 1st guy ever to play 4 years on that giant high school's varisity team.

There are other backs that I'd rather have, but if it was the 5th or 6th and all the guys I liked better were gone, we could do worse.

Cody Davis from Texas Tech looks like a strong possibility at Safety in 5th round. 6' 1", 205, 4.42 40 spd. Reminds me a lot of Matt Johnson's highlights tape.

Burkhead looks pretty good.

TJ McDonald could be available later.

The draft is going to be interesting. The team's probably looking at all the positions we expect them to be looking at, but I'm going to bet they address these positions in a very different order than we expect. For example, if they add an OG, it very well might not be from the first two rounds. RB might be something they let drop to the 5th or 6th, or S to the 4th. I think WR is going to be a higher priority than many expect, too. And I can easily see DL/DE in the first.

All of this is fine with me, as long as they get players at those spots that can contribute. A Burkhead or a JJ Wilcox are good examples. If we let positions of obvious need slide a round or two in order to make room for a position like WR or TE or DE earlier than people expect, I'm sure the board will go nuts, but I bet dollars to doughnuts there's going to be a curveball somewhere in the first 3 rounds.

They also brought in JJ Wilcox, who can probably be had later.

That's right. I thought he looked pretty good too.

It wouldn't surprise me if a linebacker slipped in there too.
