Dline is paper thin. Thats my biggest concern going to camp.
DT not DL. They might have too many DE.
Dline is paper thin. Thats my biggest concern going to camp.
That's my pet cat. MeowwwwIsn’t that true of everything in life?
I keep forgetting about Antwaun Woods. He had a pretty good preseason last year.
while that might look good, imo i consider it a weakness because ward and jones are retreads that couldn't stick with their original teams to contribute as much as their draft position should suggest. collins has been continually hurt. irving is suspended for 4 games but otherwise is a beast. ash, price, neal and ross are JAGs thus far and can either contribute or no one would lose sleep if they were cut.
taco did play some interior at michigan and crawford has moved inside but i prefer to keep people and not play this position flex with young guys like taco. let them excel at one position.
i hope you are totally right and my current concerns are alleviated.
So we suck and we’re doomed, right? Why even bother? Of course, you’ve got it all figured out, so why not push one of those bumbling fools aside and take control? Fame and fortune are there for the taking, and you could save the team you profess to love!

Yes sir. Why is position flex such a big deal on defense but the Oline is cool without it. Sometimes you just stick the player where he's best at and let him develop and perfect that position. You should be disappointed in the Org for moving him out of position, my brother. We don't ask TFred to play LT

I'm not the guy making excuses here, that'd be you. The "failure" is you trying to prop this up as acceptabl or adequate.
Do more homework. That's a big part of the reason why Irving has never established himself as "the guy" inside. And why Marinelli doesn't trust him. That and the fact the guy is a screwball you don't know if you'll have one game to the next. But you go ahead and emotionally count on him.
His bigger issue is that he's not a 1-technique at all, despite this team putting him there.
No, you act like everything's "fine" when it's obviously not. Very emotional.
And he's also reportedly dropped significant weight to play outside, meaning it's not quite so easy to "just play him inside."
Nickel isn't the part I have worries about.
Look in the mirror.
I think a lot about this team is "fine". I'm just not emotional enough to try to sell defensive tackle being one of those things.
alrighty then. I am keeping an open mind about the coming season that is about the extent of it. Dline is NOT paper thin. At DT, the Cowboys have a late 1st round pick (Jones), mid-2nd round pick (Ward) and early 3rd round pick (Collins), plus standout Irving. They also have a few of contributors from last year backing those 4 guys up (Ash, Price, Neal, Ross). They are 4 deep at each position, and even with Collins our through mid-August, and Irving suspended the first 4 games, they have sufficient talent to man the inside. This also doesn't include Taco Charlton and Tyrone Crawford, who can both move inside on passing downs.
The real issue for many fans and pundits is that the Cowboys are not addressing the DT position they way others want them to address it. They prefer pressure players, and many want big fat run stuffers. But Collins is over 300 lbs. as are Ash, Price and Ross. Contrary to the opinions of some, it's not necessary to have a 340 lb. monster in the middle. Collins is near 310. Price, Ash, and rookie Woods are all in the 320 range. Even the "small" DT's are 290 or more. Maliek Collins is 1 lb. heavier than Ndamukong Suh. Collins is plenty big enough to play the 1-tech position. And he'll be back before the season starts.
Paper thin? Not even.
No you are the one that thinks they are in a position to hold others accountable such that they need "excuses." This goes to the very heart of your emotions ruling over reason that I write of.
And give me a break Stash. Homework? Really. You know that I watch each game several times and chart them. I spoke to specific techniques and play from Price that I look for from the position.
Collins was fine handling the run at the 1. I agree that he is better healthy at the 3 but that is besides the point.
And define significant weight.
So my not being worried means I am emotional?alrighty then. I am keeping an open mind about the coming season that is about the extent of it.
I am not going to worry about DT when it wasn't an issue last year. It was not a problem with Paea, Price, Ash, or Collins at the 1 or the guys who played the 3 last year. The reality is the DL was a consistent strength last year. The issues last year were S and particularly LB.
You sure seem insistent on the emotional tit for tat but I am not worried nor excited. I'm speaking about what I have observed about specific players employed in particular roles.
The irony of posting "a good fan" whines in a thread defending calling Jay Ratliff a serviceable NT. lol.Like bull**** opinions about what a "good fan does"? I agree.
They post incredibly dumb things.
I still rank threatening to beat the 80 year old owner up was a larger concern lol.Don't forget the eye problem
My theory is that Mike Fisher wants to be the next Mickey Spagnola, lol.
I still rank threatening to beat the 80 year old owner up was a larger concern lol.
I always will remember Noble due to him replacing Hennings(after injuries made him retire in 2000). Blade for the sharting incident lol.
Chad Hennings was one of my favorite less popular(mainstream) Cowboys. Back then I was always amazed at his story of being a former air force pilot who served to boot.
he's got the intangibles to do so
Statistically, teams w/o 1 techs don't win super bowls. The front office and coaching staff have said themselves that that 1tech is one of their least valued positions. This is an issue the media and fans have made up. The last two seasons the team has had a top 10 ranked rush defense and last year they lost Paea, who was supposed to start, and had to kick Collins back in. If the front office has the guys they believe in playing at the 1tech I'm more than comfortable. Big names and 340lb tackles just look better on paper but statistically the team has been able to do just fine without them the last 2 years.
The linebackers have a lot of responsibility in the run game and whenever the team struggled against the run last year it was when Sean Lee was out. With a healthy rotation of Price-Ward-Woods/Ash/Jones, Sean Lee back, a healthier Smith, and LVE, we should see the team stay in the top ten and hopefully creep up to the top 5. Rod Marinelli's gifts as a coach are on the defensive line. If he's happy with what he's got, then the position should be just fine.
We're stacked at DE but razor thin at DT.
The irony of posting "a good fan" whines in a thread defending calling Jay Ratliff a serviceable NT. lol.
You've been posting here far too long to be this dumb.
At this point it's willful ignorance.
You definitely suck as a fan. Clueless, loud and whiny.
I cleared my block list last week and it really is obvious you were one of the guys I should have kept blocked.
Instead of a bunch of one-sided arguments now I see your inane posts.
