Mike Fisher: Source Reveal number one reason our head coach was hired!

I'd really love to know what they're paying him. For some reason I'm thinking it's toward the bottom of the Head coach salaries amongst the league.

They literally were going to bring back McCarthy. He walked and Jerry hired a guy down the hall. Someone who already worked there. Someone that nobody else even interviewed.

Bringing in high character guys in the bottom of the roster is unlikely to cause any changes. And for years we have draft "character" guys high in the draft. How has that worked to change the culture?
If anything the draftee’s character changes. They get some money in their pocket, start hitting the clubs, talk to some vets, watch the leader be all about marketing.

Doesn’t take long for football to hit the back burner.

Shoddy “changing the culture” is about them knowing the public perception and trying to offer hope with yet another sales pitch, but anyone reading this knows nothing is changing.

Fixing the culture 101…..

“Jerry, you can’t be holding media court outside the locker room after games. It undermines me.”

“Ok Brian, it’s your team. Whatever you like.”

Ain’t no culture fix happening around Dallas anytime soon.
That would a start to correcting team culture. There would be much more work to be done before Jones' all-encompassing aura would stop permeating longstanding, uninspired attitudes throughout his organization as deeply as it has for so long.

Just me.......I know this is Fish but this is on par. Interestingly it's what the article isn't saying that strikes me. Bringing in a number of low-tier free agents from the outside speaks volumes of their disappointment with leadership from the so-called elite core players ( Dak, Lamb and Parsons ).

This is why I believe they have either lost or is losing confidence in Dak's leadership.
But they didnt feel this way about Dak before giving him a record contract the day before last season started?

Of course we all know he mentioned fixing the culture, but to fix the culture there had to be problems, none of us knew it meant the recent issues with law and Micah. Maybe there are more issues, maybe our head coach can do a better job of getting guys together when there's issues to squash it instead of letting it drag on into the media and kill our season!
When one guy is tweeting and spending too much time on podcasts and other stuff and you cut the guy who wants him to focus more on football, the “culture problem” is still in the building

You are probably but with the team culture being the first thing the new players talk shows its an issue of concern among coaches and FO. Can see why they chose Schotty over Kellen Moore. More leadership that Xs and Os. Will it work.....who knows but all fresh faces on the coaching staff and not friends or former coaching buddies, is a start. We will see how it goes..

Brian Schottenheimer is not a new fresh face. Arguably, a fresh face/totally new coaching/player relationship strategy would have been more effective if Jerry Jones had done (at least) a complete purge of the coaching staff.

So which big star is getting jettisoned? You can't have a culture issue without your biggest stars either a) being part of the problem or b) being complacent/negligent towards the problem(s).

I assume that Micah and Dak are safe...for whatever reasons. That leaves the people already "let go" plus CeeDee, Malik Hooker, Treyvon Diggs, etc...which one is being let go to "fix" the problem?

Also, if you are going "culture" and the head coach is leading the charge, does he have veto power over who will join the team? DOUBTFUL.
That’s what comes to mind for me as well.

Reports have claimed that there are behind the scenes issues with both Micah and Diggs.

Would they get rid of either or both in the the name of this new culture?

That's just it ......... IMO Dak's new contract is/was 100% Jerry's decision and they are now regretting that big-time. So everything now going forward is to ride it out for a couple of years and limit the neg impact ( See new priority run-first offense....taken the ball out of his hand as much as possible)

Imagine anyone thinking that Brian Schottenheimer will be the guy that does what nobody after Jimmy Johnson could do lolololololololol

I think Micah scares them to death........he's a generational talent but has some maintenance issues. The thought of making him the league's highest-paid non-QB player and the face of the team scares them IMO. Let's not forget, that Stephen surprised everyone by saying they will consider ALL options regarding Parson's extension.

No, he is not but unlike many new head coaches, he wasn't afraid to bring hire new coaches he had no previous relationship with. He admitted many of his coaches he had never met before hiring them. I will say what I have said before, Schotty, like Glenn, Johnson, and Liam, is a first-time HC. There is no factual proof any of the three will be a better head than Schotty coz none has ever done it. JMO

Jerry Jones is the only one who can change the culture of the organization. Currently there is a culture of entitlement with no accountability whatsoever; leadership within the team itself is non-existent. Dak, CD and Micah should be setting the example, holding their teammates accountable and setting the standard to be a Dallas Cowboys aka Aikman, Irvin and E. Smith…real football players.
Instead, the fans get canned rhetoric in press conferences; star players not delivering in big games; pouting and dissing other players in social media. Jerry has assembled a high-priced talent with a “me-first” mentality; the success of the team is secondary to getting paid. These issues are counterproductive to becoming champions.
Shotty reminds me more of a laid-back, warm and fuzzy Wade Phillips persona than Jimmy Johnson’s fiery, disciplined personality preaching accountability and professionalism…do your job or there will be consequences persona. And I think we all know who was the more successful coach.
As much as things need to change, things will remain the same. This has been the theme for the past 30 years.

It's always nice when there's no marks in the loss column and no pressure to perform. We'll have to see how it goes.
I think I'm going to have to make a little run to training camp this year.

will sure give us something to talk about for years especially if he does like the other cowboys, get a big deal and then stop performing

When organizations have problems in their culture (defined as “the way we do things around here”) talk is the least important aspect of change.

What really matters is getting results on the field, not “talking” about how much better they are going to make the “culture”.

In fact, the BEST thing this entire front office could do for this culture is just literally shut up. Just…shut….up. Let your new head coach talk about the team, the players, etc.

Jerry and Stephen should not talk at all unless it’s about the next boxing match, tractor pull or concert at the “stayjum”. After the draft, let “Schotty” do the talking. In TC, let Schotty do all the talking. And finally, let your results do the real talking.

I won’t be holding my breath that this happens.
Since he was hired I dont think shot has talked to the media at all.
But the jones boys have !!
Jerry shut up for a week, but could not take it any longer and started talking again.

I think shotty is a good HC,but he has 2 albatrosses around his neck, aka the jones boys lol.

They cant shut up, they love talking to the media, makes them feel important.
