Mike Florio tough on Cowboys

He's likely not wrong.

Jerry and his dope of a son are masters of PR so it's not exactly unlikely they talked about all these trades just to make it seem like they were working on improving the roster when in fact they had no real interest in making any trades.
I had the same thought.

Shouldn’t EVERY GM be “working on trades” around draft time?

They just love to talk and are constantly in the mode of “see, we are not idiots, we are doing our jobs.”

He has been around football his entire life, and has played for a championship college team. He has owned the Cowboys since 1989. Won 3 SB's inspire of the haters saying it was all Jimmy.
It is safe to say he knows football.

He does actually know much more about football than most on here posting how much they think they know.
No he is not a football genius, but he knows more than most on here.
I am not by any means defending him. Just using common sense and logic. This FO has failed us as fans the past 20 years.
Not 30 years. Did anyone truly think the team was not going to have down years after the triplets were gone. Did anyone expect deep playoff runs from say 2000 to 2006.

Fans are blinded by their hate and / or their homerism. And it shows.

It took the Hunts 50 years to get back to a SB. Apparently they knew nothing about football either. Where is the outrage there, just swept under the rug, since it does not fit a fans narrative. Until a guy named Mahomes came along they sucked at ownership from what fans are applying to Jerry.
Jerry has 20 more years to find his Mahomes if you compare it that way. :lmao:
there was tons of chiefs outrage and apathy. what? lol. they were one of the laughingstocks of the league.

We are nothing like KC who has had the same ownership family (the Hunts) for 60+ years. A family that hires a GM and holds him accountable for results The Hunt family delegates authority appropriately and let’s those people run football operations. We have an owner who hires himself and his kids with zero accountability.

The chiefs have one of the best GMs in sports in Brett Veach who worked really hard to scout Mahomes and move up in the 2017 draft to get him. And even more importantly, Veach understands the importance of building a great defense around his great QB. And uses trades, FA and smart cap management to support their generational talent at QB.

Like I said, the Hunt family is nothing like our ownership family.

And how can Jerry ever find the next Mahomes type QB if he never drafts one?
A great QB makes everyone looks like a genius.

That's a cop out. The Chiefs are well run.

We are not. And it's all because the Jones boys are stubborn and don't acknowledge their own limitations. It's not because the Chiefs just ended up with Mahomes.
Hmmm....the young around the rim for years ... until .... they got some insurance guy to QB.

Good point, well great surrounding team and both. He is one exception. And a great FO.
We know we do not have that here.
Cowboys fans only have unrealistic hope. Hope Wilson is washed up. Reality is the Giants will have better quarterback play than last season. Hope Daniels has a sophomore slump. Reality is with a significantly better left tackle and accomplished new weapon, and one year of NFL experience, he’s going to be much better.

And hope Hurts does not get better. Most here think Milton can develop into a capable NFL quarterback though he’s shown next to nothing to date. Hurts, only 15 months older than Milton, somehow can’t develop. Even though he’s shown he’s already very capable. Reality Hurts is only now approaching his prime playing years.

The real hope is that the Cowboys don’t come in last place this season. Reality is they probably will.

I have Dallas in 3rd place. I just can't see where NY has improved enough to say otherwise.
And that is not based on hope. That is just the reality of the situation.

I see Philly and Washington going neck and neck for the NFCE.
Unless one or both of those teams gets hit with the injury bug.

Until they show us on the field any different. Dallas is 3rd, and maybe, an outside shot at playoff spot #7. If they stay healthy.
One of the teams in NFCN needs to drop off as well as one in the NFCW.
Some team has to win the NFCS.

Right now, I will say Dallas is 8th, 9th or 10th in the NFC. Assuming SF will be healthy as well, and compete for a playoff spot.
Other teams that may improve for that last playoff spot as well, Falcons and Cardinals and Seattle.

As we all know, need to see it in real games 4 to 6 weeks into the season. May get an idea after 2 to 4 weeks.

Most peculiar is the notion a quarterback, yet to turn 27, two Super Bowl appearances, one Super Bowl win and Super Bowl MVP, somehow is not all that good. On top of that, believing he cannot improve. How does that kind of thinking make any sense?

Yet here we all believe day three draft picks that have yet to see a minute of NFL football can change a team with a losing record into a contender. Like it’s a slam dunk. The Cowboys quarterback room is poor by NFL standards. There is no vet free agent QB to sign that will change that. They are going to be pushed by the Giants, even if Wilson is washed.
