Anyone convinced he can be a franchise QB on this team? If so, why not trade Leary and a draft pick to TB? Kills two birds with one stone: backup with potential to replace Romo in a year or two.

This I agree with. I think Foles and Glennon are equal so just sign Foles instead

I think a qb with a big arm who can just wing it 65 yards off their back foot always make great backups. Even if they struggle they can make plays by just throwing it down the field. I think this offense can take advantage of that.

Plus Foles could be signed for 2 or 3 years putting this issue to bed. Then prescott and hopefully a top flight qb talent could be drafted next year and not have any pressure on them.

why give up assets especially really good ones like leary for a backup when you could just spend money on Foles?
I will agree with you and say I don't wanna give up valuable assets for a a possible, but truth is that Foles would be strictly a backup. He is no future QB. He will never replace Romo, so if Romo goes down then Foles would fill in til he comes back or we go to the draft for future.

EDIT:: ok I just seen another post from you that basically says the same thing as me so we agree

I thought Foles made since the second he was cut by LA. I hate that it might take an injury to realize it, but he was probably the best option for a solid #2 QB and it took this to make them see it. Having Romo with out a solid backup is like parking your new Mercedes in the driveway with a Texas hail storm coming and no car insurance to boot.

I don't think Foles wants to be a backup. I think he waits to see what happens around the league.

At this point I want showers or Prescott out there If Romo goes down for significant time I'd rather feel hopeful about watching some guy progress than some weeden or cassel type flounder around out there.

But if they bring in some other teams scrub I'll just accept it for what it is.

He's awful. All of the options out there are awful. Just roll with Dak and Showers. If Romo goes down we are screwed anyhow

You are right I wouldn't want him but, the Cowboys did show interest in the spring. Bryce Petty might be available from the Jets. The Cowboys were
said to like him when he came out of Baylor.

I think the question should be whether or not he's so much better than Foles that it justifies giving up assets to obtain him... I don't believe that he is.

Glennon is not awful. He's got a good arm, and he isn't afraid to be hit.

I think Dallas should save Leary and a RB (McFadden probably) for later in camp to see if they can pry away a quality DE or LB from a team that's suffered injuries at the OL or RB spot. Glennon, I like, but I'd rather have a QB like Foles for just money rather than assets.

I like Glennon for QB2 much better than Foles, because Foles sucks. But I'd be leery to trade anything for him in the last year of his deal.

I am all for trading for Glennon. Not sure he can be a franchise QB, but I think he has nice potential in this offense.
