Maybe, but like I said, I wasn't defending MM. Just trying to toss in a few other things to consider.Interesting theory, but I'm not buying it.
One of my best friends is a diehard Packers fan. Whenever he watches a Dallas game nowadays, he tells me how funny it is to see McCarthy get pissed at the refs because he almost NEVER acted like that in Green Bay.
If it was the players who McCarthy was pissed at, we'd know it. When you see McCarthy yelling at the refs after a bogus/ticky-tack call, we know who he's pissed at, and it ain't the players.
Hendershot offsidesSo we've had dumb players since 2003 and Packers have smart players? Interesting
Didn't answer my question. We've had these issues since 2003. Hall of fame coaches had the issues. Why?Hendershot offsides
Clark facemask
Smith holding
Lamb lining up offsides and drawing the motion penalty
All stupid penalties that cost more than just the yards.
This is a sound theory, Agree. Seattle and Dallas are at the bottom, #31 and #32 (number of penalties-team). I guess some teams have a culture, and more players that instinctively commit fouls unaware they're hurting their teammates. It's not a formula for a team's going deep in the tournament.Coaches don’t coach penalties, it’s a combination of culture and incompetence of the players.
Agreed. I don’t think he’s that dude. He’s content and happy to be a Head Coach. We need a Head Coach who is miserable about losing.Mccarthy is a buffoon
If he could or wanted to do this he would have done it already
He cant turn this thing around
This. Also happened under Garret, then you ask what was the common denominator? Our beloved genius all mighty General Manager. There could be a simple answer - culture. There could have been an atmosphere of accountability in Green Bay that doesn't exist in Dallas. Maybe MM wants to hammer the idiots who keep making the mistakes and Jerry won't let him.
Don't take this as a defense of MM, but there might be more to the story, something other than MM forgetting how to coach or referee bias..
Just terrible. The NFL aint even trying to hide it.From 2010, when he won the Super Bowl with Green Bay, until now, here are where McCarthy's teams have ranked in total penalties.
1st = LEAST penalized
32nd = MOST penalized
Tell me if you notice anything fishy.
WITH GREEN BAY
2010: 3rd
2011: T-1st
2012: T-18th
2013: 8th
2014: 7th
2015: T-14th
2016: T-9th
2017: 8th
2018: T-14th
WITH DALLAS
2020: 22nd
2021: 32nd
2022: T-24th
2023: 31st
Okay, so we all notice the difference, right?
This means one of two things.
1) McCarthy MAGICALLY FORGOT how to coach penalties. He's still a good enough coach, mind you, to get his team to the playoffs every year. But in the ONE area of the sport that the refs ultimately control, he totally lost his mojo!
2) The refs, many of whom we can only assume grew up as NFL fans, have a clear bias against the Dallas Cowboys JUST LIKE 90% OF NFL FANS DO.
Which of the 2 is more likely to you?
Maybe but when you dig deeper into the penalties you see it’s not all subjective type penalties like holding, etc. From 2010, when he won the Super Bowl with Green Bay, until now, here are where McCarthy's teams have ranked in total penalties.

Or we just need to shine a flashlight on our players. GB did it right, why can't you? From 2010, when he won the Super Bowl with Green Bay, until now, here are where McCarthy's teams have ranked in total penalties.

There's nothing subjective about Parsons getting bear-hugged with no call.Maybe but when you dig deeper into the penalties you see it’s not all subjective type penalties like holding, etc.
For example, guess who leads the league in offsides penalties called against? You guessed it. Dallas.
He’s a good coach.Agreed. I don’t think he’s that dude. He’s content and happy to be a Head Coach. We need a Head Coach who is miserable about losing.
Cliches and no actual changes. That’s all McCarthy is. A name that the Jones family is comfortable with. They’ve been wrong for 29 years and this year will be no different unfortunately.
The point being that you might have a point if the Cowboys were simply high in penalties like holding or DPI, which at the end of the day are subjective calls. Offsides tends to be more objective and the Cowboys are #1 in offsides. There's nothing subjective about Parsons getting bear-hugged with no call.
Or Damone Clark getting tackled with no call.
Or CeeDee Lamb getting his pants nearly pulled off with no call.
I used to think those things "evened themselves out," but the data screams otherwise.
And as for the "obvious" presnap penalties, the Eagles OTs get away with multiple false starts every single game.
If the Cowboys OTs tried that for a game, they'd have to duck from all the flags being hurled in their direction.
The Cowboys non calls are getting ridiculous already. There's nothing subjective about Parsons getting bear-hugged with no call.
Or Damone Clark getting tackled with no call.

That points to lack of discipline.
Why on Gods green earth is everyone afraid to blame ref bias? Real fans don't blame the refs. Hoowie bull crap. It is plain to see every week. And yes it happens to other teams as well. The NFL needs to get it fixed and get it right. No apparent bias or agendas against any team. Just fair and honest refereeing. I think most fans want this to be true.As just said as I was typing...
Postgame show said not a single holding call against our passrushers the last four weeks in a row. And they're one of the best pass rushing units in the league.
There have been 16 against us all year. Then zero in a four-game stretch.
I've never blamed refs in my life, but this is absurd.
Now that's criminal. We’ve drawn zero offensive holding calls in 4 weeks. Zero!
I'd imagine we're high in all types of penalties, not just offsides.
As for the subjective calls, the old saying is "they could call holding on every snap if they wanted to."
Well, we have the best pass rusher in the league, and we haven't had a single hold called in our favor in 4 weeks.
Totally a coincidence, I'm sure.
