Can we do something in the playoffs before praising McCarthy and Dak all the time? Geez.

Well some don't seem to have any aversion to smearing McCarthy and Dak all the time regardless of the playoffs, but that's okay huh?

So far,
6 teams have 12 W's or more
26 teams have less than that.
The Cowboys are in the top 6 in the NFL.

Apparently some Dallas fans are happy to see 12 W's 2 years in a row, seems like a natural reaction to me. Don't know what will happen in the playoffs, but what's wrong with fans being happy about the record we already have?
If you can't allow any "praise" at all to the HC and QB who have got us to that point, well that's up to you.
But others have just as much right to cheer the Cowboys as you do to badmouth them.
Give 'em a break Jay.

Fans didn't have your mentality in the 90s when Jimmy Johnson was coach I guarantee you that. Our fanbase had high standards then.

For the first time since the Barry Switzer era (joke), the Cowboys have back-to-back 10 win seasons. Under Jimmy Johnson, and his successor Switzer, the Cowboys ran off 6 consecutive double digit winning seasons from 1991 - 1996. Not even the great Bill Parcells managed that, and we all know Switzer did it with the momentum built by Johnson.

I think it is high time that Mike McCarthy starts getting more respect from the Cowboys fandom, and across the NFL. His reputation took a hit because of the narcissism of Aaron Rodgers. But he has proven he's a winner in Dallas, overcoming losing his starting QB this season to give the Cowboys fans back-to-back 12 win seasons. Maybe, just maybe, we can hope that this change in culture will lead to playoff success as it did for the last team to have back-to-back 12 win seasons (1994 & 1995) Those seasons ended in the NFC Championship game against the 49ers and a Super Bowl victory over the Steelers.

Stop putting down Barry Switzer. He is a great football coach. Its really annoying. He never had a chance because he was right after Jimmy

I agree with the OP. MM has done a great job, IMO, to keep this season alive despite losing Dak in week 1.

Really? The Narcissm of Aaron Rodgers? Yea that was it. ;rolleyes;

I like Mike McCarthy. But at the end of his tenure at Green Bay he was still running the same offense that every defense in the league could defend. He kept Aaron Jones on the bench when it was apparent to anyone the guy could play. His offense (along with Ted Thompsons inactivity in the front office) required the WRs to run around and get open and hopefully Aaron Rodgers would be Superman again and run around and make plays. Funny how that same Narcisstic QB returned to MVP type play when a new coach installed an actual offense that schemed players open. McCarthy as much as I liked him could not put an offense together to win a game if AR was hurt. It was common knowledge thta the Packers team was only good because of the greatness of Aaron Rodgers. If he was narcisstic it was probably deserved.

McCarthy has surprised me since lying about what he did to prepare to get the Job. But, Until I see them introduced coming out the tunnel at the Super Bowl, I am not going to drink the Kool Aid.

Also, Bill Parcells was building a Super Bowl team and what he left with his coaching would have got to a Super Bowl. But Jerry, T.O., and Romo's fumble snap did him in and he was ran off from finishing something he realized Jerry Dumbo GM Jones did not deserve. It worked. Parcells got his Super Bowl winning coach Sean Peyton out of Dallas, the Wildcat coaches, Todd Bowles defense that's got a Super Bowl ring and been to 2 NFC Championship games, and Parcells was never going to take Jason Garrett as an OC.

McCarthy went downhill in Green Bay more because of Rodgers' health than Rodgers' narcissism. Rodgers broke his collarbone in 2017, effectively ending his and the Packers' season. They were 4-1 when Rodgers got injured and finished 7-9.

The next year, Green Bay finished 6-9-1 and McCarthy was fired. Rodgers' narcissism reared its head then as he chafed at McCarthy for trying to rely on the run game more because Rodgers not only sprained a knee, but later revealed that he played pretty much the whole season on a fractured leg.

Some of our fans did not seem to understand this about McCarthy when we hired him. His only failures as a head coach came when his quarterback just was not healthy. Some pointed to the Packers getting better after McCarthy left, but that was due to Rodgers getting healthier (and a focus on improving the defense) as well as the development of Aaron Jones as the featured back.

I don't know how McCarthy will ultimately fare here. With Rodgers, he was only able to get Green Bay to one Super Bowl, which says more about how hard it is than about whether McCarthy is a good coach. However, some of the negativity toward McCarthy has been misguided since he took the job.

In addition to my post about Rodgers' injuries in 2017 and 2018, Aaron Jones opened the 2018 season by missing the first two games of the year due to a suspension. He took over as the starter in Week 6, and went on injured reserve in Week 15 with a knee injury.

Maybe he should have been starting earlier than he did, but he was a fifth-round pick in 2017 and the Packers were trying to sort a backfield that included him, Ty Montgomery and fellow rookie Jamaal Williams (a fourth-round pick). On top of that, Jones also missed a couple of games that year with a knee injury.

There are usually good reasons why a successful coach suddenly becomes unsuccessful, and it generally includes some circumstances beyond his control. Not saying McCarthy couldn't have done some things better to help himself, but there's not much he could have done to make Rodgers healthier his final two seasons. A broken collarbone and broken leg for one of the best QBs in the league are hard obstacles to overcome.
