Probably my favorite part about this team.

Sunday, Jerry - "If he really had to play he would have"

Monday McCarthy " I'd be surprised if Tyron ever walks again"

When you get hurt on the job I guess you think they should just fire you then?
Getting hurt on the job is different than milking the system. I see people all the time at UAW jobs on so called sick leave getting nearly full pay but are doing full time construction work on the side.

It was a flare up of an old neck injury he had a few years back. I heard he wanted to play yesterday, but the trainers weren't happy with how he reacted to pre-game checks and they made him sit.
Appreciate the response.

If I’m not mistaken his contract was reworked to be tied to playing time, so of course he wanted to play.

They are probably trying to manage his snaps to have him for later in the season, but certain folks in charge have a certain cheapness to them at times, and they need to be careful not to be that way to a fault on this case.

It sucks but yea after this year, we either need to release or reduce him to a strictly backup role. He should not be expected to be a starter

So you're saying that Smith's injuries are not from his work? Nice unprovable anecdote though.

Just get him a one way ticket to Cabo at this point. Let him enjoy the start of his retirement. Need to have consistency on the OL and linemen who you can depend on will be there each week. Get Richards more snaps at OT...or get Bass in at LG and move Tyler over to LT and keep them there. Tyron can watch the Cowboys on TV like the rest of us.

It was a joke. Unlike a union, Jerry has the authority to fire him and find his replacement.

But honestly, it's not Tyrons fault. It's Jerrys fault for not moving on from him. It's hurting the team because they refuse to plan for him not being available, when the odds are better he will miss several games as opposed to play the whole season.

They drafted Tyler Smith who will replace him when he retires. They have signed/drafted backup tackles every year.

Tyron makes $10m a year and has done so for a decade. It has always been a discount but now he is playing at half rate for a starting LT. That is why they keep him around. If he was making $25m then you would have a point.

But I think if Tyler Smith is your left tackle of the future, he needs to be playing there now. It's easier to play guard than left tackle.

I just don't like how they are delaying putting Tyler Smith at tackle with the hope that Tyron will stay healthy .

Now if they want to bench Steele for his terrible play this year and put Tyron smith at right tackle go for it.

Why? Because you say so?

Sorry they are not doing as you want.

Wednesdays practice doesn’t really matter for a guy in his 13th year. As long as he can go Sunday and my moneys on him starting Sunday

He hasn’t been great at guard. It is easier but he has very little experience at guard. I think they want to leave him there so he gets it down. He’s the future LT unless a LT falls in their lap then than plan likely changes

How do you get hurt during a bye week? The entire point of the bye week is to get healthy.

He chose not to wear his neck brace. Seriously? He can not be counted on.

Trade for OLine help immediately and for the future.

What he said is that Tyron was a game time decision this past Sunday and Tyron would be with the vet group not practicing Wednesday whether or not he is injured. DLaw and Martin are in that group as well.

You are being set up for angst. Sports journalists are worse than they ever were.
Thanks for calling that -- Tyron isn't practicing any Wed this season. And that is fine.
