Mike Mickens... Convince me he makes the roster

Yeah, I think Mickens goes to the PS because of Patrick Watkins' special teams play.

Gotta admit I never saw what made everyone think he was a future first rounder.

Maybe he shows something Friday, though. I'd think you'd want to keep five corners as much nickel as you have to play these days.

Smith can play CB if needed. They like him so he's making it for sure.

And we have to keep 5 safties to make up for Hamlin being out for six weeks.

9 DB's - Newman, Jenk, Scan, K. Hamlin, Sensa, M. Hamlin, Ball, Smith, Watkins.

That's how I see it.

It's great there are now tough decisions at the final cutdown. Used to be we didn't have decent starters at every position.

Mickens to PS. Unless he's a special teams demon we don't know about, because at CB he hasn't impressed whatsoever. Beat repeatedly in camp accd. to MacMahon and in preseason it's looked like to me ... not as athletic and fast as Courtney Brown, who will make the team before Mickens does. Maybe Mickens' injury is in play a little, I hope so.

D. Smith: Bryan Broaddus the ESPN 103 scout said he heard whispers that the Cowboys like his "makeup" meaning the right mindset along with stones I guess. ... But that doesn't help if you're a step slow, which is what he's looked like. If you have to keep Brown or Smith, who can each play DB and safety in a pinch, who do you keep? ...

I dont think we can only keep 4 Corners....... i dont think that would be very smart.

I know he has made some plays on ST, but I just really don't think Watkins makes the gameday 53.

I was and still am big on Mickens but I have been underwhelmed with his play so far. I actually like the idea of one poster's idea of him making the 53, being cut a day later, and signed to the practice squad. I think teams will be less likely to gamble on him after their 53 man rosters are set.

We did cut Patrick Crayton his rookie year and brought him back to the practice squad. Maybe we can get lucky with Mickens. I still feel he will be a decent NFL CB.
