Yeah it's perfectly normal for a defensive assistant to report to the head coach rather than his own coordinator. That in no way undermines Parker.

When a team does bring in a veteran unaffiliated or retired coach as an assistant they typically do report to the head coach

The Cowboys have done it many times as have numerous other teams.

Actually you have it half right brian Schottenheimer said it it's quite obvious people with common sense know they all report to Brian Schottenheimer he didn't mean it like he's not allowed to talk to Parker they will communicate a lot but when it comes to making any major changes or wanting to make changes or having some concerns he wants might to bring it directly to him and that's how it works anyway the chain of command is pretty clear that everybody should be reporting directly to Brian Schottenheimer and letting him address people more direct if it needs to be done He doesn't want people getting into fights in the locker room or in the office you know we had to hold was it Buddy Ryan punching his offensive coordinator in the face they don't want it to come to that so he's a buffer..

But I think people are confusing that by saying like somehow Parker and Mike are not gonna actually communicate a lot no they will communicate a lot That is the whole point This another piece for the defensive staff to run things through this is one more link in the chain to try to get these players to understand what they're supposed to be doing both in practice walkthroughs watching film and on game day even more importantly having one more person somewhere on the field or in the booth just to speed up this transition because it's not working he's brought in not really to help Parker become a better DC he's here to help those other assistants and players understand their damn assignments better and what can be done better where Parker can have more free time for other things.

Everyone here wants to make it a conspiracy theory it's not a conspiracy there's nothing to see here this is normal.

Coordinators are supervisors to position coaches….doesnt mean positions coaches dont have to do what coordinators ask of them

But it shouldve been made very clear that the Buck stops with Schotty

Just like i report directly to the school principal…doesnt mean i dont have to listen to the department lead

Now if Pettine reported directly to Jerry then it would be an issue
