Mike's lockroom halftime speech

All I care about is players settling down and getting their heads in the game. John Madden at halftime once told his team "Don't worry if the horse is blind just load up the wagon" I doubt it made a difference but his players went out and played hard. McCarthy's guys went out and played hard and won the damn game. It seems this upsets some people, that is the game of football that is why you play 4 qrts, alt opened the door and Dallas stepped in and got the job done.

What he said to the press was he told the team to not worry..

to just play the best they had been shown or something to that effect. That they had a big opportunity ahead.

You can play it back yourself.

Obviously what he said made the team relax and go compete being heavily behind at the half.

Maybe he knows what he is doing and they are listening?

Good sign.

Honestly, that's a pretty standard speech when you're getting spanked at halftime.

The offense clicked in the second quarter when they didn't fumble the ball and started throwing more on first down...they had drives of 75 and 60 in the second.
Yeah and Atlanta came right back and posted scores to cancel those.

I had predicted Atlanta to win 35-17. So at halftime..

unfortunately my prediction was looking too good.

But in the second half..there was less turning the ball over.

But in the past..many of us complained about not being able to make halftime adjustments that worked.

Yesterday our coaches did and it resulted in one of our best games in 60 years.

Not bad.

Whether he meant to or not but what he said and what Dak said, he basically challenged their man hood. Let's see what kind of guys we have in this locker room is something Dak mentioned. They responded and played well in the 2nd half. Let's see if this is the catalyst needed.

Yes..Dak mentioned that.

I am sure we will not exactly know what was said as it's all internal.

As it should be.

McCarthy is a seasoned coach who understand that you play to win football games. Hence the risk taking. Does anyone think this team hangs around if Jason Garrett was still the HC?

A game like yesterday can go a long way, you get guys believing in what they are doing and to keep fighting. As a longtime fan of the Cowboys I have witnessed a lot of games where Dallas did not look great but went out and got the job done, Hell Staubach made a name for himself as captain comeback and it was not because the Cowboys played 4 solid qrts it is because sometimes we played like crap, made mistake but never stopped believing we could win. I know Dallas can't play like this week in and week out but a game like this stays in the back of the minds of players not to give in and do not quit. I have also seen the reverse where team are waiting for the wheels to come off and seeing it as a here we go again moment.

Well something positive happened at halftime.

They were clearly a different team from the first half.

Whether it was the players talking about the situation or what..

I appreciate it.
Agreed. They came out swinging at half time. This was something I preached on before. Adjustments. Garrett was terrible at it. The game plan was much better this week too. They played to their strengths, and got the ball out quicker. That's all coaching.

Was this before or after he scarfed two hot dogs and plate of nachos?

Yes sir.

We have seen it all, huh?

They can be Jeykall and Hyde..in the same game.

Like yesterday.

Wasn't it Jerry who hired Jimmy Johnson?

yep. And how long has that been? I love the good ol days as much as any cowboy fan but at some point it’s time to quit looking back and see what staring you in the face and it’s GREED the cowboys will be nothing but mediocre(Unless the bounces go their way) until the money stops flowing and even then are the Jones’s smart enough to make the right moves? 25+ years says no. So let’s just sit back and enjoy this Years polished turd.

....difference between MM and Jason, MM is real guy. Jason has a fake persona about him from his laugh, to whole personality demeanor.

It's been a long time, of course, but it's at least proof Jerry has hired the right guy before. Not sure Jerry can be faulted for Parcells or McCarty either.

Dave Campo and Jason Garrett, on the other hand ...
