With all the hoopla thats been started this off season about Miles I know a lot of people are holding their collective breathes for fear of being disappointed which is normal but I really feel this guy is gonna have a great year. IF HE STAYS HEALTHY the ingredients are there for a good year. The two main ingredients being he's being given the opportunity to show what he has and a big motivator, its put up or shut up for him this season and if he puts up he's about to get that coin. If he wants to get that contract extension he knows he's gonna have to show 110% so thats really gonna motivate him on the field and it doesnt hurt that our QB trust and believe in his skills just from comments over the past couple seasons.

Austin has speed, but his ability to own the ball in the air is horrible. He has problems adjusting to the ball in the air, along with iffy route running, I don't see much there.

I would use Austin the same way we used to use Alvin Harper.

I dont know what else to say to the doubters but he's what were gonna have so deal with it and hope he keeps progressing. You could see how he was progressing at shielding his body away from defenders and what not when the ball was coming at him so there is more than what you're seeing

Honestly we ALL haven't seen enough from Miles to put him in any category. I can tell you that added pressure from our owner and media could kill this kids confidence and ultimately his production. I will just sit back and wait. We need every young WR to step up!

No one is talking bout Sam Hurd...........

The scouts and coaching staff see this guy on a daily basis so they know what he can do more than anyone else.

If we had a front office that didn't know how to evaluate talent then I would be worried.

But obviously they can evaluate talent. Get the guy in the game and give him his opportunity.

Like Brad Johnson and his backup. Like Felix not able to run back kicks or not having any plays for him when we are behind. Like Taschard Choice not playing until the Barber injury, hey pass me some of that kool-aid.

Look around the league bro.

We do a lot better than about 95% of the teams in this league @ evaluating talent.

Im not drinking koolaid. It just it what it is.

Our guys can evaluate talent.

The coaching staff may botch some decisions on how to use guys but the Scouting at least gets the right guys in place.

If the scouting says Miles Austin can be a starter in this league I would be pretty confident in their decision because they obviously know what they are doing.

Is that the same scouting department that can't select an olineman to save their lives?

I hope Austin does well, but it's been 3 years and so far I don't think anyone can honestly say they are convinced he can play. To me he falls into the same category at Carpenter which is if he is a great player he would have showed it by now.

The one thing I don't want to hear is "he was undrafted from a small school, it takes time." I counter that with, "see Marques Colston".

Well thats your problem right there.

You interprit the exception as the rule.

Most guys from small schools take time to develop.

I counter that with.. There is no TO or Witten in New Orleans.. Also Brees does a good job of distributing the ball to his wide receivers..

So why hasn't he beaten out Crayton to get on the field? Brees distributes the ball so well, because they have no threat of a running game and he has to pass, plus they have an OC that knows how to game plan.

In 3 seasons this is what I have seen out of Austin regarding the WR position:

- No NFL starts
- Only played in 16 games once
- Has never caught 15 or more balls in a season
- Has 3 career TD's and 354 yards total

Too many "no's, only's and never's" for me to expect 16 healthy starts, 1,000 yards and 8 TD's out of him this season like I'm hearing people suggest will be the case. Make what you want of it but those are the facts we have to work with. Yes he's in a contract year also, that should be a big motivator.

Austin was a undrafted free agent.. When he arrived Crayton was already established.. I don't think he's going to be a all pro.. But give the guy a chance.. Give him some playing time and if he sucks.. Cut him.. He has shown flashes that he can be a good #2.

What year did Crayton get to the Cowboys? I don't think he was hear all that much longer than Austin, plus he was a 7th round draft choice, not much difference.
