I know Austin is still a longshot but I really hope he can put it all together and become a great receiver. His physical tools are off the charts. He didn't look too bad returning kicks either.

He may be to compete for a receiver spot, but that return against the Seahawks, to me, showed the guy can at least contribute as a killer return guy. The kid can get down the field.

You know.......maybe we DO NOT need to draft a WR......they very well could be on the team as Mr. Jones has said.

Crayton, Austin, and Hurd........

I like these guys and feel they are good contributors but I'm not fully convinced that they will be premier WR's. 1 or 2 of these guys working along side a top WR I think they could do well but being the main guys I think that is a bit of a risk.

All of this brings up an interesting point.

Why didn't he transfer out of Monmouth?

I don't question his abilities, but this does make me question his competiveness a little.

If one is so good, wouldn't that person want to compete at a higher level?

note: not really knocking Austin. I actually think he has a high ceiling. Just makes me wonder.

then you would have to ask why didn't Jerry Rice transfer or T.O. and other rec's.

Austin and Hurd (and Crayton to an extent) are the reasons I don't think we need to draft a WR. At least not this year. They should be given a year to show if they can get the job done. If they don't show SOMETHING next season then I'd be all for drafting a WR in '08.

Ok, but what happens next year? You willing to bank on Crayton, Hurd, or Austin being a number 1 WR? You want that number 1 being a rookie? This is a superbowl contending team and cannot rely on Owens. Glenn and Owens are old by nfl standards and that means injuries, loss of speed, wearing down at the wrong time, and retirement soon. WR needs to be addressed very soon.
