Has he taken the 3rd WR spot over Sam Hurd?

I couldn't help but notice Miles was in on a few 2 WR sets with TO. With Hurd not being injured one might think that might have happened.

Austen could develop as a threat during post season as teams dont know much about his ability.

Dying for him to break one on a return as well -hes been close on a number of occasions.

Can't understand why it took the Cowboys coaching staff so long to see that Austin was a better return option then TT. I think we will continue to see Austin get some playing time since it looks like he can stretch the field a little and give us another offensive threat.

Over at dc.com it shows Owens/Hurd/Austin at one WR and Crayton/Stanback/Glenn at the other. I'd like to see both Hurd and Austin get more playing time this month.

Side note on the return team - TT may have a real battle to keep his job next summer. He is getting no playing time at all at RB and now seems to lost his kick return job.

I doubt TT comes back. I can see us drafting his replacement.

I'd hate to see him lose his job. The guy is a great story. He's lightning fast. He just doesn't seem to have good vision and goes down to easily.

Thompson is a RFA. He'll probably get a qualifying tender, but if a team signs him to an offer sheet and we don't match, we'd get nothing. Which would be fine. I don't see another team wanting to do that, so to me he has at least one training camp left here to keep his job.

I hope Miles has a big game tomorrow. Just one more thing defenses have to worry about in the tournament. Go Hawks!!!

One thing that always confuses me about Miles Austin is his name. I find myself calling him Auston Miles for some reason. Had the same problem with Brock Marion for a while also. Maybe it is some kind of throw back to the Landry days when he would screw up players names.

The Cowboys were trying to create match-up problems for the Packers.

When we went to a three-receiver set, Austin drew one-on-one coverage. He had him Bigby (I think it was) beat deep twice and drew interference calls on both plays.

It's hard to say who he's "replacing." Austin was in on 2 offensive snaps in the Packers game. In both plays, we were only in 2-WR sets, which normally calls for TO and Crayton. This wasn't the only time that Crayton was replaced in a 2-WR formation. Hurd replaced him on 2-3 plays. This was likely just a precautionary measure given that Crayton had injured his ankle just two weeks before.

However, on all 3-WR sets, the typical lineup of TO, Crayton, and Hurd was used. I guess you could say that Austin jumped Hurd on occasion in those 2-WR formations, as a replacement for Crayton.

But the results so far speak for themselves. Austin was in the game twice on offense, and both times he got open and was thrown to.

I think that Garrett was just throwing something else out there with Austin to give them one more thing to think about. That deep speed caused them some problems and I would not be surprised to see more of Austin in the coming games. I don't think he is going to take Crayton's job...or Hurd's...but he will start to get more playing time in spot assignments.

All I know is he had TWO long TD's that got PI calls.... otherwise he was IN... BOTH times.

Hundreds of potential NFLers who have these characteristics. It's amazing how much talent a player has to have to simply make the roster.

I think for that to be solidified he will have to show good hands. He might already, but the two big chances to prove that on Thursday he was interfered with.

I'm not loyal to anybody. If any receiver proves themselves better than Owens, than put his butt on the bench.

Until that happens.....go Terrell GO!!!
