Cowboys!

Cowboys
1(26) Michael Mayer TE Notre Dame
"There is no way in hell Jerry Jones passes up a Jason Witten clone if he's on the board." That's how one rival scout with over 20 years in the business described this projection. Mayer would be a safety valve in the middle of the field for Dak Prescott; he caught 180 passes for 2,099 yards and 18 touchdowns over three seasons in South Bend. Mayer is a great run-blocker but also might have the best hands of any pass-catcher in this class.

2(58) Mazi Smith DT Michigan
The Cowboys could look at cornerbacks or offensive linemen here, but Smith falling down the board means this is a true "best player available" pick. He has been praised by area scouts as a talented all-around player who will be better in the pros than in college once he is freed up to rush the quarterback and not play gap-based defense. Smith's power, quick first step and ability to play with low pads stand out when he is crashing the backfield.

3(90) Roschon Johnson RB Texas
Could Jerry Jones resist adding a Longhorns running back, even though he missed out on Bijan Robinson in Round 1? Johnson was the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class but moved to running back at Texas due to injuries. He stayed there for four seasons, amassing 25 touchdowns while working primarily as a backup to Robinson. The 219-pound power back has the patience, vision and receiving skills of a starter and would be a fine complement to the speedy Tony Pollard.

4(129) Jake Moody K Michigan
5(169) Yasir Abdullah DE Louisville
6(212) Earl Bostick Jr. T Kansas
7(244) Rakim Jarrett WR Maryland

Solid draft but we go into next season basically the same.

I could see all those players being Cowboys.

And Mayer better be Witten or you just drafted a big slow unathletic Te with your first pick like it’s 1993.

If Mazi Smith falls to 58 and we actually draft him, I would streak around the block in my birthday suit in celebration.

Not happening.

I wouldn’t complain about this draft.

we all need a new TV now and then.i need new a 8k TV anyway.

this is a disaster of epic proportions.we got Dak in the 4th RD,using a 4th RD pick on a freaking kicker disqualifies Miller forever in my book.

Decent. Not great. You get two starters early with Mayer and Mazi. Johnson is an excellent compliment to Pollard. I feel that’s a little high for a kicker.

Mazi goes before 58. They need a kicker. I am thinking more round 6 or 7.

who thinks Johnson is better than Kendre Miller? i have seen his entire draft and we could have got Will Mcdonald and either Mugrave or La porta with our 2nd rd pick.

I guess, but if the only OL they take is yet another project tackle, no one should be doing any backflips, and definitely keep the clothes on!

They may like what’s his name from the Jets, but I think need a starting guard from this draft….and much more so than a starting TE.

Kicker in the 4th? Dude better be the second coming of Justin Tucker

We have drafted two kickers in the Jerry era. Buehler and Folk. You have to go back to the 1980s when Dallas would draft kickers and that was when the draft was 12 rounds

I’m not sure it means they won’t this year.

They didn’t sign a FA kicker. Unless they have their eye on a couple under the radar types, drafting one wouldn’t be a surprise.

I once heard Jerry acknowledge how that’s worked out in Cincinnati and Buffalo.

Hardline and the other Longhorn homers on the forum.
