Milton or Howell?

Too early to gauge, either way they'll both make the team. The 3rd QB is allowed to be on the roster in case the starter goes down
I think this was decided months ago.

Howell has a 2.5M GTD contract.

Milton has a 1M non GTD deal. So they can cut Milton if they need a open roster spot.

I sometimes jot down roster projections when I have free time and for a while I had just Dak and Howell on the 53. After last night I think Milton stays and there are three QBs on the active roster.

He played a throwaway game at the end of the year was nothing more than a preseason game come on can we not do this I mean you think that none of us saw the video yes he can play a little bit but only in games that don't count.. That game may have counted in your mind because it's a regular season game but it was a throwaway game..

Howell has put up numbers and won some games like Cooper Rush but he has a better arm than Cooper Rush Short term it's Howl long term maybe Milton who knows but right now how was the best answer if it happens early in the season if there's five games left in the season the Cowboys have no playoff hopes it's Milton see how I can do I can I can sit there on the line..
I'll go with Milton. They could go either way.

Howell, but in my mind it's much, much closer than it was before last night. I was impressed with both, but very surprised to see Milton play as poised and calm and focused as he did. especially taking some off his fast ball and focusing on his accuracy. Great job by both. It was a good night for Cowboys backup QBs

Strange how so many are giving Milton props considering how he's been so widely poo poo'd the entire time he's been here.
That doesn't really make sense to me. So if people criticized him they should pretend he played poorly when he played really well? Sure there are some on here that are more interested in arguing that they were right (see every Dak thread ever) than seeing players they previously criticized do well, but I would hope most fans LOVE when a player they "so widely poo poo'd" does well.

If Dak goes down for 4 games, who do you trust more not to make stupid decisions? Who has played QB against the NFC East and other competition? If Milton was seen as a Dak replacement in case of a career-ending injury, or if Dak had a couple of years left on his contract, then it's Milton

On cowboyszone if your first impression is bad it stays that way. Gotta get used to that.

Howell as a backup.
Milton as a longer term project.

Howell is what he is at this point. Milton lower floor but appears to have a higher ceiling.

I always enjoy having one of those “scratch off” developmental QB’s on the roster.

I have been very vocal over Howell. Milton looked great though. Best I ever saw of him. I think the competition is open and if Milton continues to play like this it has to be him. When did you ever see him throw with touch? It was a great game for him.

The bigger point is people call players trash, waste of resources, etc., without giving them any real opportunity.

Just one game but Milton looks 100% better than last year. I think he will lock down his backup QB spot with a similar performance next week. Yes, Howell has more experience, but Milton's potential ceiling is much higher. Being younger and costing a 4th-rounder, this is now his job to lose, IMO.

I still believe it makes the most roster sense to carry Howell on the practice squad. Teams weren't beating down his door to sign him, so I don't think we'd have any problem getting him there, like we did with Grier. If we waived Milton, I have no doubt that some team would claim him based on potential.

If Dak gets injured and we need to win one game against an equal level opponent, give me Howell.

If Dak goes out for more than two or three games, the season is over, but give me Milton just to see what happens

Hard to judge either one when most of the opponent's team will be applying for jobs at Home Depot in a month. Milton is the better athlete, but Howell may be the better overall player. I will withhold my opinion for now. I need to see more.
lol, Star you are not right.
