Family Day At The Ranch; No Practice

The Cowboys have cancelled Thursday’s final mini-camp practice here at Valley Ranch, and judging by the rock noise echoing from down the hall in the locker room area, the team appears to be holding a “family day” of sorts for the players and coaches. Several coaches have their spouses and children here.

The players reported at 11:45 a.m. for position group meetings and a team meal/family day function. Phillips concluded last year’s mini-camp with a similar outing in an attempt to promote a family atmosphere.

The Packers also organized a team-building event this week. Head coach Mike McCarthy cancelled Wednesday's practice and took his players paintballing.

I realize the Cowboys shouldn't be compared to other teams, but I've read in several places about teams canceling the last day of practice to take the team bowling or some other team-building activity.

I don't care what other teams do, this team can't win in December and certainly doesn't need

whatever, I can't even get through a post of that.

Eh, whatever. This has nothing to do with why we lose in playoff games.

Just saw below article on DMN blog. Assume it's not a joke. Jeez, really disappointed. Anyway, here it is. At least it looks like he intends to post some leftover tidbits from Tuesday & Wednesday practices. Hope some of the other writers do the same.

The Cowboys' final practice has been called off because of weather. No Wade Phillips press conference or locker room access, either.
The Cowboys will have a team meal/family day instead.
We've got a whole bunch of leftovers from the last two days that we'll get to after a nice, long lunch.

It's VERY common to end the final off-season practice day early or cancel it....as a reward of sorts if you think the guys have been working hard in the offseason. Many (most) teams are already finished with OTAs and won't have real hitting until they return.

I would not read much into this.

There are entirely too many chicken littles on these forums! Calm down kiddies, the sky isn't falling and ONE cancelled minicamp practice will not be the reason we fail to meet expectations this season....sheesh!!!

Who was it that got shot in the family jewels last off season in a paintballing trip gone horribly wrong? Was it Santana Moss?
