Missing Link found! And no, it's not Sacamano.

FYI....The History Channel is running a two hour special on this, dubbing it the most important find in 47 million years. Looks pretty interesting.

I'm a believer in evolutionary theory, but I hate it when people try to sensationalize science.

You may be an ape, Mr. author, but don't call me an ape. Until your theories have actual evidence of transitioning fossils that don't span gigantic leaps of faith in the fossil record, leave me out of your "beliefs".

He's just expressing the scientific view point, I don't see how it involves you personally for him to give a quote on scientific theory.

I wasn't saying he shouldn't. I was asking why he took it on a personal level.

It seems Sultan was demarcating between his worldview and the author's worldview, and worldviews are inherently personal constructs.

That was my impression, anyway.

I suppose that makes sense.

He called me an ape (indirectly) by using the word "us" encompassing himself and the readers of his article. So, I simply told him not to call me one. :) He can call himself whatever he wants.

Personally, I don't find the macro-aspect of evolutionary theory "scientific" at all.

Well, he has to believe in a common ancestry, just like you do. It would be ridiculous for him to say, "This fossil shows one of the evolutionary steps towards man, except for those men who were created by a divine being".

Yes, you are right. It would be ridiculous for him to say that "this fossil shows one of the evolutionary steps towards man." :)

Well, it's not even that, but he was just stating that our scientific classification is as a "great ape", the taxonomic family. I thought it was weird to take a taxonomic classification so personally, but I suppose Scipio's explanation makes some sense in that regard. (Latinized "Hominidae")

Scip always makes sense, that's his thing.
