PITTSBURGH — The oil man’s son burst into the locker room before even his father, making his way from locker to locker, showering gollys and hot-damns on whomever would clasp his outstretched hand. He found Tony Romo, the former starter, in a suit, and Dak Prescott, the rookie, emerging from the showers, and the three came together. “How about this guy?!” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones exclaimed, pointing to Prescott, who only grinned. “He’s the man,” Romo said. “Unbelievable.”

That was the word Romo kept repeating on Sunday evening underneath the bleachers at Heinz Field, as he stuck around the dispersing locker room and hugged or shook hands with coaches and players, including his former understudy. Unbelievable. Dallas’s eighth win in a row with Prescott under center came with his most impressive performance: The fourth-round pick from Mississippi State cracked 300 yards for the first time in his pro career and threw a pair of touchdowns.

And after Prescott and his juggernaut offensive line and rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott delivered the game-winning touchdown drive in the final minute of regulation to win 35-30, the oil man himself, Jerry Jones, stood in the middle of the locker room and handed Prescott the proverbial keys. No longer would it be Tony Romo’s job to lose when he’s fully recovered from the back injury he suffered in August (and only Romo and the Cowboys’ inner circle knows if that day had already come and passed before Sunday).

I'm so heartbroken for Romo. I'm gonna need to find someone with a safety pin on their shirt tomorrow. I hope we can send Romo out with a super bowl.
That he didn't earn....

Sorry, I had too because you know that is coming if we do in fact go and win one this year

They need to replace those safety pins with bundles of sticks. Maybe Dak and Romo can pitch in.

Reminds me of when this new intern came into our workplace with his fancy Six Sigma belts and PMP certification and proceeded to knock me out of the eyes of leadership and into being a nobody. Only exception is that I planted a bag of pure Colombian cocaine in his cubicle drawer and made an anonymous tip to HR and he ended up getting fired, maybe arrested, not sure, but I feel fine.

Am I right? Who's with me? Woo-hah!

Say again?
I think the door was still open especially if he lost to Philly. I think it became his team once he completed that 3rd and 11 to Dez Bryant and came back more than once and beat Ben at Pittsburgh.

I believe the win over the Packers sealed it, being able to gun down Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau. Not easy beating Rodgers and the Packers at Lambeau. That was our 5th straight win in a stadium where the Cowboys have been cursed over the years. Most felt that game would be too big for Dak and the Packers were 3-1 when we played them. Dak was composed when the game was on the line and made to some critical throws to seal that win. In the span of a month he's beaten two future HOF QBs that have 3 championships between them and he he did it on the road.

Dak did do this, yes. But Tony gunned down Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs in 2014. The refs just chose to take it away.

Sorry, but Romo didn't gun down Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs, the Packers won. Rodgers shredded us in the second half. Romo played well but he made a bad decision to go to Dez on a 50/50 jump ball with over 4 min to play on a manageable 4th and 2. All he needed to do in that situation was moved the chains and milk the clock. Had Dez completed the process of making the catch and the ball didn't come loose when it contacted the ground and the Cowboys scored on the next play or two, Aaron Rodgers would have had plenty of time to win the game in the end. We had over 3 minutes to stop the Packers on their final drive and couldn't do it. Our defense and our lack of a pass rush lost us that game.

I feel exactly the same way. Broaddus tweeted a picture of himself with his face buried in his hands as Romo was speaking to the press in the background.

I miss #9. I love this shiny new car without a carpayment - great hookup. But where is my 12 year old SRT :(

Your didn't hear?
It's well known he actually did complete the catch process when he made a football move and became a runner. Thus making his fall just another dive. The replay "official" made an error.
