Look, I am all about nostalgia.

But I also understand when opposing fans tell us that we live in the past.

This is a classic case.

The past is all we have when hope is for sale.................JMO.

Hey thanks for the link, i am going to watch this.
Havent seen any games from 96 season, since back in 96.
I like watching old games, if complete.
Also a young madden and his bud gowdy?
And mon nite football was still on ABC, I still miss that, it was better
before it went to espn, I dont even watch it anymore.

In fairness, the Packers were starting street-level free agents at wide receiver in that game. Moose admitted, if the Cowboys had beaten the Panthers, they would've gotten destroyed in Green Bay.

maybe but I still say the 1996 Packers were paper champions as they didn't beat us

He didn't look like he was having any fun. That game was a huge NFC swing game and you could not tell we won by the look on his face. It was almost like he was emotionally relieved after the games were done in '95, 96 and 97. Like a person who has a stressful job and then when the presentation or whatever is over it's on to the next project, no joy in what he was doing. Or at least no outward showing of joy. I remember even after we won the super bowl the year before Aikman seemed happier the season was over than winning the super bowl.

You can say one thing about Romo, he is a lot funner to watch than Aikman was, not saying Romo is better because they are two different types of QB's but Romo has been more entertaining.

many of the players said this after winning Super Bowl 30 (its on one of those Americas Team episodes, IIRC)

A HUGE thank you for posting this game, Seven.

Im sure all of you have had songs in your life that you can close your eyes while hearing and feel like you are transported back to the time you associate with that song. THIS game is one of them for me and seeing it again was like jumping in a Time Machine set for 1996.

As soon as I saw the video was the '96 Cowboys vs ***** Packer game, I immediately remembered it was the Chris Boniol 7 FG Game......Reggie 'Wah Wah' White FLIPS OUT @ Irving Game. Wow! :lmao:

It was within ~ 6 months of being 20 years ago and it was a time I would LOVE to return to and experience again in real life.

SO, I prepared for watching this game again, too. I turned all the lights off in my living room and solely focused on the game and it mentally transported me back to 1996.

This was also the game I loved because it showed how Eric Williams STONEWALLED Regina 'Wah Wah' White. I LOVED seeing Regina yelling up to the Cowboys fans in the stands out of pure frustration. I remember my yelling at the TV

'Take a Midol, Regina!' :muttley:

Then came the quick letdown. Our defense was very good that year, but our Offense was missing that key component. After seeing Eric Bjornson drop the one pass he could have made, I remembered why the Cowboys offense could not complete drives for TD's in 1996 season AND why they didnt beat the lowly New Franchise Panties in the playoffs. No Jay Novachek.

Again, thank you for the time travel experience. It was SPECIAL!

They would have.....by alot

we had won seven straight against them, and while all were at home, we were the better team head to head. You do not know they would have beaten us any more than I know we would have won. As they didn't beat us, they are paper champions.

I remember this game very well and re watched it again last night. I'll have to admit, I came away with a disgusted feeling and here's why:

1. The season started out in the worst way possible. After the Irvin arrest and suspension Barry had clearly lost the team.

2. The offense didn't manage a touchdown in what should have been a blowout. Why didn't we get Troy more weapons when Kevin Williams clearly wasn't the answer in 1995. I'm also sure Novaceck's back didn't sudden fail either. It was degenerative.

3. Free agency and poor drafting had finally caught up with the team. There was no depth on offense or defense and with Haley being out no pass rush. Shante Carver was never the answer.

4. At the end of the game there was a brawl on the Cowboys sidelines. Deion pranced as far away from it as he could with the biggest grin on his face. He was a mistake.

5. Irvin hugging Switzer repeatedly after the brawl and cradling his head is just not something a real head coach tolerates. The team was done.

6. The blank stare on Troy's face as he stood on the sidelines at the end said it all.

I remember feeling happy after that game. Arnie Spanier had a nationally syndicated sports talk show that aired on the ticket at the time. And he was all about the Packers and how the Cowboys stunk. 11 year old me was very happy he had to eat crow from Cowboys fans calling in for weeks after that game. It was definitely the end of our dynasty though...

I still thought the Cowboys were going to , "get right" , and make a playoff run into the SB that year... I was a bit shocked when they lost.

With all due respect, you took offense to his initial comment - which had nothing to do with other fans.

If you're going to start a thread, don't be so thin-skinned that you can't take a little criticism.

Just
I still thought the Cowboys were going to , "get right" , and make a playoff run into the SB that year... I was a bit shocked when they lost.

After the 1-3 start I knew it was over.
