If Cromartie is available at #22, we cannot go find another
Carpenter again.

I think we can all agree on our weaknesses:

Weaknesses on Defense:
CB-
SS-
WSLB-

Weaknesses on Offense
-2nd receiver
-LG
-2nd RB

Draft:
#22 - a)Cromartie (or if he's gone)
b)Tracey Porter
These guys are playmakers that can cover.

#28-Trade for Roy Williams WR Detroit. Wants to go to Texas-Free agent next year. This might go.

2nd round pick: Carl Nicks: 6'5 330. Played OT in college but would make a nice guard. Let's invest now so we don't have to over pay for this position.
Tired of watching Kosier getting blown up.

Free Agency: Re-sign Floz. - He gets flagged- a little deaf but he shuts
down top pass rushers consistantly. 3 year deal.
Let Hamilton walk.
Sign Marcus Truffant
Move Henry to SS finally. Maybe he can tackle better if they are in front of him. He'll get 10 picks from this position like in the old days.
Yes, addition by subtraction- Cut Dough Boy Roy-too many
mistakes. No heart. Out of shape. The game has changed
and so has he. Give Watkins a shot at FS. It's his third year and he has the speed and height to take center field.

We'd have the CBs to match up with New England: Newman takes (Welker) the slot. Truffant Moss and Cromartie on the otherside. Henry covers TE. Watkins over Moss. Bring the blitzes like we imagined.

No lightening to Mario's thunder but maybe trade up for Slaton in the 3rd.
Can't get everything!!! :laugh2:

I like Cromartie, but everything else is just out of control. Henry to SS? That's just silly.

Drew Boylhart (thehuddlereport.com) has DRC as a top 15 player. He calls his talent unreal, and says that he's the Randy Moss of CBs. He may not get past the Cheats at #7 if they lose Samuel in FA.

I was for a CB, but after watching NY I want more front seven pass rushers. In our situation linemen and middle linebackers who can pressure a QB.

I'm all for finding another big LB that can rush the passer. Preferably someone who can play inside and take Ayodele's spot. I think If we can get one more guy with dynamic pass rushing ability, we'd be unbelievably relentless.

I'm not opposed to finding a NT with disruptive abilities as well. Hard to find though.

Agree, someone who can play inside and take Ayodele's spot.

We already have Ware, Ellis, and I think Spencer is going to be the real deal and a very good one.

So, what LBs in the draft fill that bill?

Or do we go the FA route?

If that's the case, you need to change your sig.

The thing is, I think we have to address RB, CB, and WR early in the draft, leaving us with few options at LB...at least os far as guys that could come in and compete immediately. I'd like to look in FA.

Why is that?

Except for the 1st pick which is a CB, rest of your picks are all on OFFENSE. If you want a quality LB, I think you'll need someone higher than a 5th rounder. I don't know who's out there in FA. I think FB is a luxury pick for us right now. I rather us spend a higher pick on a LB who's athletic and can develop in the 3-4th round.

Gotcha. I would assume we'd look in FA. You're probably right about FB, but I like the way Schmitt plays too much...so much heart.

I'll be back and forth several times between now and the draft, but I'm hesitant to go after LB's lately. We've missing more than hitting there. You're right though, if we go after linebacker in the draft, he better be in rounds 2-4.

Henry played SS for Cleveland. He played really well there.
There's been rumored talk about it for a while so he wouldn't get injured as much.
Did you know that or do you just disagree with moving him there?

i think he played FS in Cleveland when he had 10 ints.

Henry does play well with the ball in front and has excellent ball skills. He will eventually play FS in his career. I am not sure we have the luxury to do that yet.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was FS or SS.

Does it matter anymore?
I just know I'd rather have Henry covering Cooley or Shockey than watching
Roy point at people after getting lit again

I think it matters. Now, if you said resign Hamlin and move him to SS, and then move Henry to FS...I'd still say that it won't happen, but its not nearly as silly of an idea. ;)

If you didn't have that signature, I'd be offended about you calling my idea
silly. In this pass happyNFLwonderland, a linebacker at SS is not what we need. Do you really have a problem with Watkins at FS and Henry at SS?

I think Hamlin/Henry is the option I prefer. Hamlin has decent coverage skills and still offers excellent run support which we still need (esp in the NFC East).

Henry/Watkins combo....well..I don't know how well Watkins can cover and neither are physical enough to give consistent good run support against Big RBs.

I think you're right about them in Run support. Good point. I'd prefer to
have their pass coverage skills.

Hamilton's and Roy's run support skills weren't that impressive this year: Grant blowing by them and Detroit's RB blowing by them because of poor angles. Roy collars people because he can't even get in position to tackle let alone the thunderless shoulder whiffs he throws.
