1. San Francisco 49ers- Alex Smith-QB-Utah*
- The 49ers are finally bringing in a new coaching staff and management team. Will this new group like Alex Smith as much as the last core did? We think this pick will come down to Smith and the not yet declared Matt Leinart.
2. Miami Dolphins- Cedric Benson-RB-Texas
- The Dolphins believe they are a few solid pieces away from contending for the playoffs. One big piece to that puzzle is a workhorse running back. Benson is the top runner in this class and will fill the gaping hole in the ‘Phins backfield.
3. Cleveland Browns- Aaron Rodgers-QB-California*
- Cleveland will have their new coach and general manager soon, so this pick will get easier to predict. Right now our sources tell us that they like Rodgers as the top quarterback, but the incoming suits may think otherwise.
4. Chicago Bears- Braylon Edwards-WR-Michigan
- Will the Bears try and find the go-to wideout that they have been missing this early in the draft? We think so. Edwards gives Chicago a legit deep threat and a YAC monster.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Marcus McNeil-OT-Auburn*
- The Bucs will focus on rebuilding their offensive line early in the draft this year. McNeil is the top tackle in the class and made himself a lot of money by handling Virginia Tech in their bowl game.
6. Tennessee Titans- Derrick Johnson-LB-Texas
- The Titans cannot believe that Johnson is still here and while they need help along the offensive line, they move to get this Pro Bowl caliber linebacker.
7. Oakland Raiders- Mike Williams-WR-USC*
- The Raiders find their replacement for the departed Jerry Porter here in Williams, who may be a step above him. Mike will start with youngsters Doug Gabriel and Ronald Curry to give Oakland a solid three wide receiver set.
8. Arizona Cardinals- Antrel Rolle-CB-Miami (FL)
- The Cardinals find their man here in Rolle. Antrel will give Denny Green the big name defender he needs and the intimidating presence he lacks. Rolle will matchup well against the NFC West and the lack of speed in that division (thank you DA).
9. Washington Commanders- Rod Wright-DT-Texas*
- As good as this defense has been, they could use another defensive tackle to shore up the run defense. Wright will bring his massive size and agility to the Washington front four.
10. Detroit Lions- Ahmad Brooks-LB-Virginia*
- The Lions are stuck here with a decision to make. Do they reach for a tight end, are they comfortable with Joey Harrington? In the end they settle on the top middle linebacker draft, and a versatile star that can play almost anywhere on the field.
11. Dallas Cowboys- Adam Jones-CB-West Virginia*
- Dallas is in the market for another cornerback and they find a talented one here. Jones compares to Dunta Robinson of the Texans and the Cowboys are hoping for similar success in year one from Jones.
12. San Diego Chargers (NYG)- Marcus Spears-DE-LSU
- Spears may be a reach here, but the Chargers need a big defensive end to plug gaps in their 3-4 defense. Spears has a defensive tackles size and the athleticism of an end. He’ll be a quick starter for the Chargers.
13. Houston Texans- Anttaj Hawthorne-DT-Wisconsin
- In drafting Hawthorne the Texans get a dual threat. Anttaj will be able to play nose tackle in their 3-4, but some scouts believe he will also be able to play end. The Texans will welcome his talent at either position.
14. Carolina Panthers- Jamaal Brown-OT-Oklahoma
- The Panthers are looking for a right tackle to play opposite Jordan Gross and find the best in the class here at 16. Brown is a natural right tackle with great strength and punch. He’ll be marked down as a starter for week one.
15. Kansas City Chiefs- Justin Miller-CB-Clemson*
- The Chiefs are targeting defense and wide receivers early in the draft, and with the top wide outs gone, they instead focus on the top corner remaining. Miller is an electric player at corner and as a return man, although he’ll see little time there in KC.
16. New Orleans Saints- Thomas Davis-S-Georgia*
- The Saints have made improvements, but their defense is still weak. Adding a hard hitting strong safety like Davis will allow them to gamble more up front and give them a strong last line of defense.
17. Cincinnati Bengals- Erasmus James-DE-Wisconsin
- The Bengals have found some young stars on defense and need to continue to add to their roster here. James does an amazing job of beating blockers and keeping them off of his body. A player like his will open things up for the Bengals defense.
18. Minnesota Vikings*- Travis Johnson-DT-Florida State
- Chris Hovan has seen his last days as a Viking and the team will move to replace him early in the draft. Johnson has great athleticism for a big man and he has had a great career and has been one of the most dominating linemen in college this season.
19. St. Louis Rams*- Alex Barron-OT-Florida State
- The Rams were hurt his year by the injury to Kyle Turley and the uninspired play of Orlando Pace. Getting a versatile tackle like Barron will allow them to replace Turley on the right side and groom a replacement for Pace on the left.
20. Dallas Cowboys (BUF)- Shaun Cody-DL-USC
- The Cowboys are going to try and add a young tackle early in the draft this season and are thankful that Cody is around. He’s a big body that can stuff the run and is quick enough to get after players in pursuit.
21. Jacksonville Jaguars- David Pollack-DE-Georgia
- This is a no-brainer for the Jaguars. Anyone wanting a defensive end had better get in front of Jacksonville this year. Pollack will give Jacksonville a pass rushing stud that can also drop back into coverage and stop the run.
22. Baltimore Ravens- Troy Williamson-WR-South Carolina*
- Watching Kyle Boller play this year you can see that he has the talent to be special. What he doesn't have is a receiving core that can make easy plays. Troy will give Boller a young receiver that can get separation and make something happen after the catch.
23. Seattle Seahawks*- Ronnie Brown-RB-Auburn
- Shaun Alexander is already looking at houses in Miami and has not made his intentions a secret. With nine of their starters contracts expiring after the season, the Seahawks need to draft players that can contribute now. Brown has a special blend of vision and speed and will soften the blow Alexander hits them with.
24. Green Bay Packers*- Jovan Haye-DE-Vanderbilt*
- Haye was one of the first underclassmen to declare and has had his name fall of a bit, but teams are still watching him. Haye will give Green Bay a three down end to play with KGB and Aaron Kampman.
25. Denver Broncos*- Heath Miller-TE-Virginia*
- The Broncos have been looking for a tight end since the retirement of Shannon Sharpe and find the best in the class here. Miller has the talent to go ten selections higher and may have the best hands in the group.
26. New York Jets*- Carlos Rogers-CB-Auburn
- Jets fans will rejoice if Rogers falls this far in April. Carlos was the 2004 recipient of the Jim Thorpe award, going to the nation's top defensive back. Rogers will give the Jets a corner that can lock onto their opponents top receiver and allow the safeties to help against the run.
27. Atlanta Falcons*- Max Jean-Gilles-OG-Georgia*
- The Falcons might have the fastest quarterback ever, but he is one of the most sacked players in the league. The offensive line in Atlanta needs reworked and getting this massive guard will be a great starting point.
28. San Diego Chargers*- Roddy White-WR-UAB
- White has been flying up the boards lately and lands in San Diego, where the Chargers are looking for a tough young receiver to take over for Keenan McCardell. White will be a hit here with his natural ability and fearless play.
29. Indianapolis Colts*- Carnell Williams-RB-Auburn
- How sure are we that the Colts will be able to franchise Edge? Not very, but even if they do they will need an insurance policy for the next season. Williams has fallen off with his poor play in the bowl game, but he is still too good to pass here.
30. Philadelphia Eagles*- Wesley Britt-OT-Alabama
- The Eagles are looking for another tackle with the career of Jon Runyan winding to a close. Last year’s top pick Shawn Andrews is better inside at guard, so drafting Britt will give them security on the line for a while.
31. New England Patriots*- Marlin Jackson-CB-Michigan
- Poor play and a move to and from safety has dropped Jackson to the bottom of the first round. The Patriots have a need at corner and will not let this talented player slip by them. Jackson is a perfect fit in New England with his versatile, hard-hitting style.
32. Pittsburgh Steelers*- Channing Crowder-LB-Florida*
- The Steelers will be faced with the departure of inside linebacker Kendrell Bell this off-season and could replace him here with Crowder. An off the field incident marred a great career for this Gator, but Bill Cowher will look past that and grab this superstar caliber player.

That would be a terrible draft for the Cowboys. I love Pac Man but not that high. I'd rather see DT or DE before picking a CB.

And what is so great about R. Wright?

NO CBs in the first round. With the way they are calling PIs and illegal contact no way do I draft one that high. They can not be as effective any more.
