1st #27 Earl Thomas S Texas - 5’10” 208 lb 4.43
Thomas should be a top cover safety in the NFL soon. If he is available, he is a blue-chipper that fills a major need. I can’t see Iupati getting past philly. If both are there, I take Thomas anyway!

2nd #59 Dexter McCluster WR Mississippi - 5’8” 172 lb 4.44
A return specialist who can be a terror in the slot. He has game changing ability and can stretch the field.

3rd #90 Jared Veldheer OT Hillsdale - 6’8” 312 lb 5.06
This guy may be raw, but he has the potential to be a beast at LT. Bring him along slowly and let him have McQuistan’s reps for now.

4th #125 Marshall Newhouse G/T TCU - 6’3” 319 lb 4.99
Should be a nasty guard who can replace Kosier within a year. In the meantime he is a versatile lineman who lets us drop Holland.

6th #196 John Conner FB Kentucky - 5’11” 246 lb 4.64
A blocking specialist who allows us to be more physical in the red-zone. He is a pet cat of several zoners and is an upgrade over Cricket.

7th #234 Joe Hawley C/G UNLV – 6’3” 297 lb 5.21
Depth at two positions who makes Proctor expendable… I expect to see a very safe pick at this spot.

It's a little early to be mock drafting, but it's a lot of fun to imagine who we could get. At this point I am assuming Either Wilson, Thomas, Davis, or Iupati will be there at #27. Iupati is a beast, but there are a lot of excellent guards that should be available later. I think it's time we deal with this Safety issue and Thomas fits the bill nicely.

Mock away.

Like the first 3 picks. But I would swap out the last 3 picks with the following:

4th - Utah OLB/ILB Koa Misi 6'3 251 4.75

6th - Kent St FB/LB Jameson Konz 6'4 240 4.43

7th - West Texas OL J'Marcus Webb 6'7 335 5.25

Thomas won't be around at 27. I don't know why people keep projecting him there. Right now his average draft position is 18. I expect him to drop into the early 20s.

Thomas has been getting downgraded because some teams have him as a cornerback and not as a safety and there are durability concerns. I think he could go anywhere in the first depending on how things breakdown. If a safety prospect like Burnett or Allen get higher grades by just a team or two, he could make it to 27 rather easily.

The problem is we all are guilty of buying poplular opinion on where a player ranks and then every year we get shocked by a few and don't know why. Thomas could be one of them.

Right now it's really hard to say where some of these guys will go. I am starting to think that there will be a run on Tackles and Corners, and as always a few DLinemen will go earlier than expected. At this point I am pretty sure the Cowboys will trade down if Thomas and Wilson are gone. Newhouse has the potential to be a great fit for us, I think LB is a position of strength so I would still take him over Misi. There is a lot of interest in Konz, but I think a 6'3" TE/LB is going to have a tough time converting to a blocking FB.

I like the draft, though to be honest, I'm getting a little tired of Newhouse and Conner being in every cowboys mock draft. I do like the Hawley pick at the end though.

I doubt Misi makes it out of the 2nd round.

No Jason Fox no thank you.

Jason Fox, Donald Butler and Matt Nichols are the 3 biggest sleepers in the 2010 draft. Nichols will be undrafted, Butler a late 3rd and Fox a 4th. Honestly if we grab Butler with our 3rd and Fox with our 4th, we are GOLDEN.

Butler is better than McClain or Lee, he is the top ILB in this draft. Fox will develop into one of the top OTs from this class, he has just had a run of bad luck, before this season I don't believe he ever had an injury.
