Mock Like an Egyptian

WHat concerns me about one of the top OT's falling to our second round pick is the fact that so many of the "better" teams really need offensive line help.

Playoff teams like the Bears, COlts, Patriots, etc.. These teams could snatch up a few of these OT's before the second round even starts. I still think we have to trade into the bottom of the first round, late 20's, to get one of the top 5 projected tackles

Honestly none of the tackles they are talking about this year deserve first rd grades compared to last years class. No real top grade LTs. Just about every one of these guys are going to make better RTs. But they will be drafted as LTs if they go in the first.

I'd rather grab Wisniewski or Pouncey at 41 than a tackle. Gurode is the problem with the line, anyone that can replace him makes the line stronger even if the RT position has to manned by Young.

Any OC can scheme to protect a tackle. No one can scheme to protect a center.

Why the title? I have no idea beyond it sounded good in my head when I wrote it. The only point is I feel like Mocking.

QBs and DL are going to go fast. I always welcome comments.

1. Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU, 6'1", 210. I believe we will trade up to get him if we have to. I'm not sure we will have to. Newman's age is advancing and this pick makes the most sense for the team long run. WE have depth to develop at DL, but little to none in the secondary.

2. Tyron Smith, OT, USC, 6'6", 285. I'd love for it to be Nate Solder, but he is rising fast. If Smith rises too, look for Gabe Carimi. I continue to believe he will not be a 1st round pick. I think it is obvious that OL has to be addressed but is not a 1st round, top 10 strength of this draft. Regardless of who at OT falls to us here, he starts.

3. Deunta Williams, FS, North Carolina, 6'2", 205. A perfect pick for the Cowboys and fills a need. Has higher talent than 3rd round but his injury pushes him down this far. Could we re-sign Sensabaugh and have an all Tar Heel Safety duo? It is not beyond the realm of possible.

4. John Moffitt, OG, Wisconsin, 6'5", 315. If Moffitt falls to the 4th as I suspect, it could mean our top 4 draft picks could all start in 2011. Kosier is a FA and Davis' skills are not what they were when we first got him and he played well.

5. Kendrick Ellis, NT, Hampton, 6'5", 340. The future at NT for this team may be Josh Brent and this kid if Ratliff does indeed more to DE. A small school project with huge upside.

6. Mark Herzlich, ILB, Boston College, 6'4", 250. Would immediately contribute on Special Teams and fills a need at ILB. Has a good football motor and is smart.

7. Henry Hynoski, FB, Pittsburgh, 6'2", 260. This pick comes to us courtesy of the Chargers. Dallas used their pick on Josh Brent. A blocker with pass catching skills. Most important, he stops blitzes cold.

I believe we will sign Greg McElroy, QB Alabama if he is not drafted.

That would be a great draft. I think OT is very likely in the second. We've had some success there (Gurode, Flozell). Just so long as we don't take a guy with a major injury history (Jacob Rogers). Not sure if Smith will be there, but history shows that some players rise and others fall. We didn't think Sean Lee would be there in the mid 2nd last year. If not Smith, then perhaps someone like Cannon or Gilbert.

As for Moffitt, a lot of what I'm reading and hearing is that his position in the NFL will more likely be center. Of course, it only matters what the Cowboys think. If they decide that he's a better center, and they want a guard instead, I could see Watkins perhaps from Baylor. Guy looks really good, but I think teams will be leary of his age, and that could knock him down.

Rat isn't the best nt in the NFL

Perhaps not in 2010, but he did earn 1st All-Pro in 2009. So a bunch of people thought he was then.

Nice Mock Hos, but does it fit the team?

If we go Peterson at #9, is there a chance he'd play FS for us?
If so, would we really need to come back to FS in rd 3?

What about Newman? Are you releasing him?

Is Smith a RT?

And what's up with the NT in RD 5? I think we're in the market for a DE before a NT.

Peterson could play both positions. (best for team)

If we get a big NT, Rat could be making the transition to DE.

Probably not full time, I could see Rat playing NT still on third down.

Love the players and the optimism but I think with the exception of your 7th rounder, no player you have will be there when we pick. Maybe Williams in the 3rd.

Would be awesome if it happens.

Second round is fertile ground to take an OL. I'd like to see us do the same in the 3rd if some nice OG's are available.

McElroy will get drafted (likely the third day).

I also assumed three kickers would be drafted yet I see none.

Love ya, Hos, but this looks like a pipe dream.

Those first four picks all would have to miraculously fall. I'd be thrilled with all of them, but I just don't see it.

If Moffitt lasts til the 4th round, I'll eat my hat.

Lol.. if I were to mock like one no one would read this or my mock. Id likely go set something onfire, protest. Etc
People respond to me and my threads for 2 reasons. First, I post a lot and am opinionated but not uninformed. Lastly, because I am friendly and will engage anyone in a conversation.

It doesn't take much to achieve the second one. Just share your thoughts on a variety of subjects.

If you notice I give a scenario for the first 2 picks to fall and in the 2nd pick I mention several other possible names. I'd rather have Nate Solder than anyone at the top of the 2nd, but he isn't going to fall out of the 1st at this point. Deunta Williams will fall due to injury. Moffitt may go 3rd, but not before and OGs can fall easily.

I literally just realized that some of the comments are about what is happening in Egypt and makes me wish I had chosen another thread title.

This wasn't my aim. I literally just used the first song title that popped into my head with the word walk in it.

I hear ya Stanley, but I am not sure the team will go Center.

Man, I like this one. I don't even have to look at the picks after one and two. I read the first two names and said, buy. Put it in the basket.

Smith still has to complete the process, but being the first OT off the board is in play for him for sure. He's a legit red chip player who has tremendous upside and could start at RT for sure in Dallas. He's a great run blocker and probably has the best LT ability in this draft. His upside is big, and at a minimum, he becomes the starter at RT during the year. If his off season goes as planned, he's probably a top 15 pick.

Peterson is a blue chip player in this draft, and there may be only four or five blue players in this draft.

I really like Moffit, because he could play center and guard. He's young. He could be the next center and probably start at LG in 2011.

The S in round three is smart, because the safety class is weak. Teams will reach on them in round 2, probably.

I like Nate Solder (upside/my #3 OT), but I have him behind Smith and Sherrod.

I do think the Smith, Sherrod, Solder, Carimi, and Costonzo will go in round 1, but this mock looks really good.

dude Hos whats happening in Egypt is no joke. A disruptive government is killing innocent lives that have finally had it with their backwards society

"A Mock like an Egyptian" will turn into a mock full of busts.
