No thank you, I like Pat Watkins bigger and faster..

If you think Watkins is faster than Whitner than you have not seen either player and you are making an assumption. Whitner is the second fastest safety in this draft after Huff and I know for a fact the Cowboys have interest in him. The only problem is the Dolphins really like him and they pick 16.

For those of you who say you don't want a safety at 18, this guy can cover the entire field, blitz and make plays in the backfield like an Ed Reed-kind of safety. Are you telling me you don't want that kind of player because some mock draft told you Manny Lawson is great? Give me a break. You put a guy like Whitner next to Roy Williams and this defense will be unstoppable because Williams won't have to worry about covering the deep middle anymore. Instead everyone wants overrated Manny Lawson, a player I'm willing to guess that 90 percent of you never even saw play. Whitner would be an excellent choice and he could come in right away and make the Cowboys defense better. I'm sick of hearing, "I don't want a safety." You know what I want? Good players regardless of position because I'm sick of seeing the Cowboys be a non-factor every Janurary. That's what I would like to see.

look at the height and weght. They are the same weght even though Watkins is 5 inches taller. Unless Watkins adds at least 10 pounds of muscle he will not be ready to start in the NFL year one. He wont be able to play the run or tackle well for that matter.

I saw Watkins at the Combine and he looked like Snoop Minnis. He was so skinny he would get lost in between two couch cushions.

The Truth is the Dallas Cowboys do need size in their secondary...

It would be really shocking if Cowboys draft Antonio from Florida State 6-2 Conerback and Pat Watkins from Florida State 6-4... and put Terrence Newman and Aaron Glenn in the inside on Dime Defense...but that's not reality...

Manny Lawson @ 18th
Sinorice Moss @ 2nd Round
Pat Watkins @ 3rd Round

** Donte Whitner **

Weaknesses: Played strong safety in college but is a bit small and projects better as a free safety in the NFL. Started only one year in college. Lacks great recognition skills and is slow to react to play fakes. Must improve overall strength to be a run stopper in the NFL. Get pushed around at times. A knee injury in 2004 raises some durability concerns.

Bottom line: Whitner is the most versatile secondary prospect and can play all the positions in the defensive backfield. His ability to play man-to-man coverage will make him valuable right away in nickel and dime packages. His limited starting experience is a concern, but his talent is unquestioned and should warrant a second-round selection.

Terence Newman to the inside makes NO sense because the guy is way too talented NOT to be covering any teams best receiver on every play just about!! No thanks to drafting Whitner because I want a safety with longer arms and at least 6'0 tall. Give me a Pat Watkins in the 3rd round unless a player like Jimmy Williams falls down to us in the 1st round then everything changes basically.

I like Donte Whitner better than Pat Watkins.

The Buckeyes always turn out good secondary players for the NFL and Whitner is a better defender versus the run than the larger Watkins.

The only downside with Whitty is his lack of experience, having only started during his senior season.

But I don't see us drafting either player in the first round.
