Moore or McCarthy

Jerry will 100% let McCarthy walk wheather it's the right decision or not.

McCarthy is not helping himself. He makes questionable decisions and has horrible time management on literally a weekly basis.

Moore is homegrown and Jerry loves his homegrown guys. He's not going to just allow Kellen to walk into another teams arms.

Nope. Hilarious people want to move onto another learning curve coach with Jerry taking the full reins on everything else. What do people think is going to happen? He's a dam good OC, doesn't mean he's a HC. Look at what's his face in NE. McCarthy not only has some pull with the big guy, I'm sure he has a real legit HC plan. You could actually see it. Not some mystical process. Anyone thinking otherwise is truly not paying attention. You think Jerry just woke up after Garrett left? Now you want to make a coaching change and put it back completely in his hands... sounds like a great plan. lol

anyone who thinks every great Coordinator is ready for the big time and will run to a hC spot need to see teams like KC their OC has stayed way past his prime even with limited rooney rule options..i dont believe KM is ready hes to green to take over the entire team YET. MM will be here through the end of 22 book that he will get his real shot to turn around the old garett regime..2020 wasn't fair..

if im Jerry im trying my best to keep this staff together and as much as the core team through 2022..make the biggest changes in 2023 when most of th big deals have to be cut etc and some chance for small renovation of the team can take place..thats when coaching changes can be considered IMO

I would hope Moore, but it would likely be McCarthy.

The McCarthy haters won't like it but gimme McCarthy for now. He is what this TEAM needs right now (not just the offense).

We went through this with Jason Garrett 10 years ago. Kellen may be a promising HC one day but I am not ready to let him run an entire team let while he goes through a few years of on-the-job training as HC. There is no guarantee that Kellen would be a huge upgrade over McCarthy as a HC. Do we know if Kellen won't be making the same time management mistakes? Do we know if Kellen can lead an entire team in game prep, practice, etc. during the week? As of now, we just know he's a good playcaller. I believe it just works with McCarthy and Kellen together right now. McCarthy allows Kellen to do what he does best - handle the offense and playcalling while McCarthy does the other stuff a HC has to do.

If some other team wants Kellen then so be it. The guy has some potential but at the end of the day, he still barely has 4 years of coaching experience (sound familiar? Ex: Garrett)

And if Dak is becoming a great/elite QB that people think he is, I would not worry about losing Kellen. The truly elite QBs can pretty much run their own offense once they are established vets.

=

As much as I like Moore, people make it sound like Dak and a quality collection of talent on offense are just going to fall apart after he's gone. lol I hope he stays awhile. He's young and has lots of time to become a HC. I just don't see how jumping into it will help him? As a HC he's wearing many hats. Makes no sense at this point. Then we can play that game like no one is responsible. HC/OC vs the DC with no accountability whatsoever. People aren't tired of a setup that has been a complete nightmare here? Ready to jump right back into that? Unreal.

And I know everyone wants to compare the situation to Sean Payton. But he had 18 years on his resume before becoming a HC.

LOL .....you throw some real curveballs sometimes

In the real world of the NFL, this makes little sense......maybe you forgot or missed Stephen Jones recently admitted we will likely lose Kellen to a head coaching job next. You don't fire a successful Head Coach to avoid losing a successful coor.......you just don't.

Yeah, Jerry would NEVER fire a successful head coach, right?

We have no idea what is going on with Moore, Quinn, and McCarthy. No idea who is doing what.

The knock on McCarthy is time management right now. Who’s to say Quinn or Moore would have made better or worse decisions if they were in charge?

Don’t overlook OL coach Philbin in this. He is really coaching up the OL. Perhaps he is the one really making the offense go.

We don’t know who came up with the idea for McGovern at FB. We know Moore approached McGovern and asked him.

He did and regretted it, I don't see him making the same mistake twice. I do think Jerry will do all he can to sweeten the pot to keep Moore here but should this team win a championship under McCarthy I don't think he would let him walk

Here's what Stephen recently said .........

Stephen Jones touts Kellen Moore as future head coach

It’s fair to say that most teams don’t want to see their in-demand assistant coaches leave for head-coaching jobs. That said, they know it reflects well on the organization when assistants do leave, and teams want to see the personal success too.

Still, Dallas Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones was particularly effusive in his praise for offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Jones openly admitted that Moore is inevitably going to leave Dallas, and that the Cowboys are simply taking advantage of his knowledge and skill while he’s with them.

“First of all, hats off to him,” Jones told the 105.3 The Fan pregame show Monday, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “He deserves to be interviewed. He’s not a well-kept secret anymore. He has a great football mind. His dad was a football coach. He was a great player at Boise State. He played in the NFL. His (coaching) future is all in front of him.

We just want to take advantage of him while he’s here and get all the good we can because his day will come one day.”

Given how well Dallas’ offense is playing, that day could come soon. After a shaky year in 2020 following the Dak Prescott injury, the Cowboys are humming along in 2021, ranking fifth in the league in total yards through three weeks.

The Cowboys apparently almost lost Moore in January to the college ranks. He figures to attract more head-coaching interest from the NFL next offseason.

Do you think, if pressed, to keep one or the other - will Jerry terminate McCarthy to keep Kellen and make him HC or let him go and keep McCarthy?
Depends on how big a part MM played on Moores growth. I don't think Moore is ready, he doesn't have a strong personality like some other young HCs have. Seems a bit to quiet and reserved. If MM did not have a part in his growth, which I find hard to believe, Jerry will choose Moore....he won't be able to help himself, unless firing MM us too expensive.

If McCarthy wins the superbowl this season or makes it to the NFC Championship, i see no way they fire him to promote Moire to HC. That's idiotic and just wouldn't happen unless there is a fight between the HC and Jerry.......... so don't say "but, but what about Jimmy"

The end of the 2023 season will be a tipping point for this franchise.

Jerry will be in his 80's. Dak will be nearing the end of his current deal and will be looking at another bite of the apple. The o-line will be aging. Who knows how much Zeke will have left even if he is on the team.

These young defenders like Diggs and Parsons will need to get paid.

What's going to happen? Depends on how much success they have between now and then. And if Kellen is still here. I think Jerry will keep him in Dallas at least until then. That's when franchise changing decisions will need to be made

This is a hypothetical question that is unlikely to ever happen. We have both and that's the way it should be.
