Well, it's only natural to support and defend Ware...he's good, he's improving, and he's ours.

However, I wonder how many people would actually say they wouldn't trade Ware straight up for Merriman? That's an interesting question. I would make that trade because I'd love to hear a Cowboys' player being talked about the way Merriman is...I'd love to have a guy who hits the way he does...and I'd like the fact that he's even younger.

I love Ware, but I'd still rather have Merriman.

I dont know why it is so hard for people to get this...but Merriman is getting his sack numbers because he plays in a far more aggressive, attacking version of the 3-4...as has been noted a few times, alot of Merriman's sacks have come when he has been totally unblocked...we do NOT run the same scheme...you could have all the Merriman's you want here and the results are not going to be any different than what we are seeing now...put Ware in SD however and you would see the same type numbers from him that Merriman is getting...

I can't figure out why this even matters? Dallas got the guy they wanted and Ware is a very good young player who I think is only going to get better. Looking at the grass on the other side of the fence to see if it is greener just seems to be a major waste of time

I have to agree with Emmitswift. Right now, these two are no even close (1 sack vs 4 sacks).:banghead: OK, Ware plays "run better", but that is not what we envision him. We have been looking for a pass-rusher since forever and Ware is simply not doing it right now.

I had high hope for Ware after his four games last year but he has been disappointing. He had a breakout game in carolina, but has had only two sacks in the rest FOURTEEN games.

We drafted the wrong player and it is due to Jerry Jones' fetish of small school players.

You make about as much sense as a three legged lizard wearing a snowcone.

Small school fetish. Getting a bunch of SEC and Big 10 players just screams out small-school to me, too.

Some Mort blurbs in his blog about the Raven-SD game.

• Marty Schottenheimer may have a bigger problem in San Diego than just his icy relationship with GM A.J. Smith. His players -- including many of his star players -- truly blame the coach for blowing the game in Baltimore on Sunday because of "Marty Ball."

• Marty Ball on Sunday: Chargers QB Philip Rivers threw 10 times in the first quarter, four passes in the second quarter, one pass in the third quarter and seven passes in the fourth quarter -- four of them in the final 29 seconds when they tried to come back.
• Of course, if Nate Kaeding had converted two field goals, nobody would be whining about anything in San Diego.

Noted by more than one personnel man: Ravens left tackle Jonathan Ogden almost made Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman disappear when they were matched up.

• Same Ravens-Chargers game: Ray Lewis may have the same passion but he's not the same player, according to a pretty good football scout.
• The Ravens' defenders who have impressed the most during the 4-0 start are the other linebackers - Bart Scott and Adalius Thomas.

Where's the "B.S." emoticon?

Let Merriman get 20 sacks in a season like LT, and then we'll talk.

Exactly. You can't compare a second year player whos career sack total is 14 to a guy who averaged 14 sacks a season through the prime ('84-'90) of his career.

I still think that Merriman will prove the Cowboys to be right for not picking him. Give it time.

I still believe that he has a few loose screws.

Any mention of him blowing last weekend's game single-handedly for the Chargers in that ESPN article?

I agree. Merriman just looks like a headcase.

Parcells picked Ware for a reason.

Given the choice, I would take Ware. I would have before that draft too. I think Ware is a better all-around player, and I have no doubt that he could get those sack numbers if he played in that same kind of scheme and system...

The bottom line is that Bill had his choice of LBs in that draft. The guy he took is the one he compared to LT - not Merriman. And Bill knows better than anyone that there will never be another LT.

Let's let Ware go against the Chargers and get blocked by Lamont Jordan and see if he doesn't have 3 sacks too. He's not even rushing the passer 100% of the time like Merriman is and he still is doing well. Honestly, in my opinion all of our linebackers are having tremendous seasons, because you don't hear their names that much. They're stopping the ball carriers and covering the middle of the field, and that's good enough for me.
