More hate for Romo

8.* Eli catches the Romo disease.

Two weeks ago, many were singing the praises of Peyton Manning’s kid brother.* Since then, Eli has been playing like the evil twin of Tony Romo.

Late turnovers in losses to the 49ers and the Eagles have dropped the Giants from 6-2 to 6-4, plunging them into a tie with the Cowboys and giving the Eagles a glimmer of hope, especially since Philly currently holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over both Dallas and New York.

In each of the last three weeks, Eli’s passer rating for the season has dropped.* And last night’s 74.0 doesn’t take into account the play that killed the Giants’ late hopes for a comeback — a fumble when Eli was hit from behind by Jason Babin.

As the Giants find themselves in the midst of yet another late-season collapse, Eli needs to find a way to turn those late opportunities into something other than turnovers.* If he can’t, plenty of jobs could be turning over in New York after the season ends.

God people will never let that Lions game go. He's not allowed to have one bad game.

The Giants usually collapse in the second half of the season. So far this season..

Giants first half .. 6-2
Giants second half .. 0-2

Right on schedule ... :D

I agree. QB have bad days and Romo had a bad day vs Det. Since then Romo has thrown 12 TD passes and 2 ints.

Let his haters have their agenda because nothing he will do is going to change their minds

God I hope we sweep them and win the division...nothing would be better than seeing the giants tank after a 6-2 start and being crowned the div champs by the media just two weeks ago.

This is why the internet has killed the profession of sports writer ...

In this he states, "Eli has been playing like the evil twin of Tony Romo."

Let's think about that a moment ..

First, let's focus on "evil" .. since when is the opposite of "good" in sports "evil"?

Second, let's focus on "evil twin" .. even if you assume by "evil" the writer means "bad", would saying he is the "bad twin" of Romo not mean that he is the opposite of Romo and as such, mean he's saying Romo is the good player while Eli is the bad version of Romo, the good player?

Sadly, I'm not trying be funny. I miss the days when sports writers were skilled professionals rather than former bloggers.

Just read that on twitter. It amazes me the perception people have of Romo, he has a 99.7 rating this year, he has never had a rating below 90 and he has never had a rating below Eli. If the Boys win the NFC East this year, they will have done so for the 3th time since Tony has been a starter, meaning every season where he has started every game the Cowboys have won the East. He has the highest 4th quarter rating OF ALL TIME. And he is currently playing the position better than anyone not named Rodgers.

Clayton of ESPN praises Romo for not making his typical boneheaded plays, what is he talking about? I love the Dallas Cowboys and obviously I would love a SB but having Tony being the qb would be that much better.

Romo's never topped 20 interceptions in a season. Manning's done it twice. Romo's career 2.9% INT% is significantly lower than Manning's 3.3%. Manning would have to go 510 attempts - an entire season - without an interception just to get his INT% down to Romo's mark.

I just don't get it. I know that QB of the Dallas Cowboys is perhaps the most focused-upon player in the NFL, but NY is not some backwater stop. The national media should be roasting Eli, especially considering all they gave up to get him.

Romo is perhaps one of the greatest "Rudy" stories of all-time, yet he gets skewered while the QB from football royalty is given what is by comparison a free pass.

Ha, I hear ya bud. Speaking of Clayton, he was the one last week in his mailbag chat essentially saying it looks like the Cowboys are "stuck" with Romo this year, as McGee isn't ready.

Don't be surprised if they start reintegrating the December woes of Romo. They abandoned it once he shook the negative December record, but since this is a new season, I wouldn't put it past them to conjure up old BS to make something out of nothing.

The difference is Eli 1, Romo 0.

Cowboys just need to continue to stay focused on the team in front of them. Right now that is the Dolphins

It's probably worth mentioning that one of those interceptions was right on the money to Martellus Bennett for a big gain before it was unceremoniously juggled to Asomugha.

The other was the interception by Arrington in the NE game where it looked like Dez slowed up on the little inside route he was running.

Not to say they don't count or anything, but merely that Romo has been playing at a very high level. I can't remember any potential interceptions that defenders dropped over that stretch, though I wouldn't be surprised if there were any.

Every time someone mentions that I want to punch Crayton in the face. He would probably beat me up afterwards but no one would take that punch away from me.

Absolutely. In the past it seemed the "December Stretch" had the team projecting outcomes before the individual games had been played out.

I love that signature.

Is there a handy source for this? I believe you, but if I say this to someone, I would like to be able to point to the source.

Thanks.
