More likely to win the MVP this year: Dak or Zeke?

If you knew the MVP of the 2017-2018 season was a Dallas Cowboy, would you guess it was Dak or Zeke?

Betonline.ag odds as of 8/2/17:

Dak Prescott: +1200
Ezekiel Elliott: +2000

I believe the chance that Zeke is suspended has to do with Zeke at +2000 because earlier in the offseason he was even with Dak at +1200.

This question is prefaced with the assumption that Zeke is not suspended for any games this season.

My guess would be Zeke because I do not believe our offense will be directed towards having Dak throw the ball as often as Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, etc, therefore Dak would not have the passing yards nor TDs to match the elite passers in the league which would prohibit him from winning the MVP in his sophomore campaign. If the Dallas Cowboys have a dominant season this year, it is likely that Ezekiel Elliott is leading the league in all rushing categories and approaching 2000 yards, possibly eclipsing that milestone.

My vote goes to Zeke because I believe his production this year is more likely to standout than Dak.

Love both Dak and Zeke, and I ultimately wish for a Super Bowl for the team over any individual awards so please avoid any banter about Dak vs. Zeke or that individual awards are irrelevant.

Not based on last year. We were not the best running team and there were other backs with more impressive stats than Zeke. Unless you are going to look only at rushing yards.

Zeke would have to break the 20 TD mark and obviously be the leading rusher in the league to have a chance.

However, if one of the established QB's like Rodgers, Ryan, Brady etc have a 40+ TD year, forget it.

Between Dak and Zeke, Zeke has a better shot.

Think Dak will have a great TD/INT but I don't see him putting up top 5 QB numbers in terms of TDs/yards in this offense, yet.

I doubt either will win it. The voters are enamored with gaudy numbers from QBs, and Dak probably won't have gaudy numbers.

But like someone else said, if the team can get 10-12 wins and he has 18+ touchdowns, Zeke might have a chance - as long as he isn't suspended.

I think a good case could be made for either guy but I just get the feeling that Zeke in year 2 will explode, as good as he was last season I think we will see more plays where he takes it the distance and if as I expect he will be more active in the passing game then his all around numbers will be more than impressive. I think last season Zeke was just scratching the surface.

Last year we were 2nd by 1 yard per game with a rookie qb and rb. They'll both be better and the offense will open up.

Through the history of the NFL leading the league in rushing is usually considered very impressive. You're entitled to your opinion about what impresses you.

Unfortunately I don't see either guy getting a fair shake.
The same reason they used to justify robbing Romo and Demarco of MVP will always be used to keep Zeke and Dak from getting it.
There will always be voters who split the votes and more importantly say that 1 guy doesn't deserve it because we have the other guy.



And then you have the "all purpose yards" group that have developed to try and discredit Zeke by pretending reception yards should be used to prop up inferior backs...

I remember what years the Cowboys played in the Super Bowl. I couldn't tell you which Cowboys won the MVP award, although I'd guess Emmitt. It's great for their agent but doesn't do anything for me.

That reasoning doesn't apply to any other team, by the way.
