More Mayock: Cowboys did well in Lions trade for Roy Williams

I loved the Felix Jones pick, so I guess I was in the minority. Getting Felix and Jenkins was high-way robbery.

I liked DeSean Jackons, too. He has an attitude, though.

Flowers and Eddie Royal were my 2 most coveted players in last year's draft.

Yea, I'm that good.

I would love to have Macho Harris on this team...

DeSean in Dallas would have been dangerous - not for opposing teams but for his career. Too much lights, camera, action in Dallas for a player like DeSean. A big market would have ruined him, IMO.

I'll bet you a nickel he ruins himself anyway.

The Cowboys took him off their draft board for a reason.

Since Joel Buchsbam passed away, there hasn't been a draft guy that I've really put a lot of stock in what they say... but Mayock is probably closer to him than anyone else out there.
I have to agree. He actually gives good reasons why he has his opinions. I don't always agree with him, but I do always listen to him.

this is so much more fun to read than gloom and doom.

interesting note about the OG's.
i usually have a good feel for overall draft classes and this one seems a bit weak but i'd be lying if i said i ever rated ol very well.

I've got a new respect for Mayock, he made some good calls last year on guys like Flowers who I hated at the time but played pretty darn well on a pretty bad team.

He watches a ton of film. Thatss what made Buschbaum great.

Desean jackson was drafted by the Eagles. Philadelphia i think is the number 3 market in the country. But i can see him ruining himself anyway. He seems like the kind of person we dont need around our team.

He's also wrong like everyone else though, he thought Vernon Gholston was the second coming of Merriman, and while it's early, Gholston has looked like a major bust so far.

Uh, No! He said he had the ability but consistancy was an issue and wasn't sure how he will do in pros because of that. I follow Mayock pretty well, he was right on money about QBs too.

I thought he was so wrong about Matt Ryan being that good. But he turned to be very accurate on that. I agreed with him on Darren McFadden, its still early, but I just don't think much of McFadden, at least not worth the top 5 pick.

He was one of the only guys I really heard, before Draft, talk about Ware being an LT type talent. Not that he wasn't wrong on guys, but he is much better than the Mel Kiper, IMO.

Yeah Mike is going to miss some too, that is the nature of the beast. No one is going to get them all right. Mike at least does his research, watches lots of film, and clearly does speak on the subject with some authority and knowledge that makes him a guy worth listening to.

didn't we try that with Stanback? :banghead:

Please, .. you can't be talking about Stanback in the same breath as Pat White?

Most rushing yds by a college QB, ever.

Only QB to start and win 4 bowls games, ever, ... 3 of them were BCS games.

Those kind of accomplishments don't happen by accident.

He is special, and whoever gets him will be surprised and pleased at what he brings to the field.

--- About West Virginia quarterback Pat White, Mayock said, "He's one of my favorite guys in the draft. He has the 'it' factor. I don't care how big he is or how accurate he is, but I want him on my team. To me, he's the best Wildcat quarterback in the league right now - he's better than anybody (currently) in the league. As long as he buys into the 'play slot and return punts and do whatever I have to do' ... if he does, he's a second-round guy. I don't know if people have him that high.''\

The so-called it factor. Same thing everyone said about Vince Young.

Besides, if the Cowboy's don't sow up their NT, ILB, and S issues through Free Agency or player retention, spending our 1st pick overall on Pat might be a bad idea. I realize you draft for talent, but at the same time, you shouldn't leave glaring needs, that Tank, Burnett, Z. Thoms and the hole that exist with SS Roy Williams rather he's here ot not unattended.
