I think it depends on how the draft unfolds as compared to their draft board. It could be we trade some of the pics away for pics in the 2010 draft,or atleast it seems a possibility.

This is the point I was going to make. I do believe we will move around in the current draft to get a player(s) that we want, but I fully expect to see some trades to acquire extra picks next year. If next year is uncapped, I would expect teams to have a lot more flexibility in signing rookies.

AdamJt13 could tell us for sure if there is a greater advantage to teams next year. I read somewhere that there was.

Actually, one of the things that I was thinking was that if at 51 there are a handful of players available that we like, we should trade down and pick up an extra 3rd or 4th for this year.

And then, use one of our 5th, 6th, and 7th rounders to move up and get another 4th. (We end up with around 4 4th rounders, or 2 3rd rounders and 3 4th rounders all in all.)

That way, we still have about 10 picks, and they are higher quality picks.

I think the 4th and 5th rounds are very interesting this year. There should be quite a few solid QBs, OGs, LBs, and DL available there.

I'm certainly not against that. All I'm against is not using these picks because of any perceived lack of roster space. We need to play the percentages in order to give ourselves the best shot possible of finding players like Jay Ratliff and even Patrick Crayton among the Jacob Rogers and Skyler Greens of the draft.

If anyone thinks our scouting department and front office are going to hit on all 11 picks or all seven, if we went that route, they are sorely mistaken.

Improving where we're drafting also improves the chance of us getting contributors, but the quantity of the picks is important.

I'm sure there is going to be some wheeling and dealing by the Jones boys on draft day. There could be package deals of picks and players to move up in key rounds where targeted players are available. I hope this is the case. There is lots of room to maneuver.

Yes, what you do is move up to get who you want in the second or third. Not to move up in the first because we don't have first round money.

wrong, rookie pool set aside takes care of that.
